How many of you guys are running the new GTQ67?

Just curious to see how you like it. What converter and stall are you running with it?

Thanks in advance

Chris,
My bud, Don was running one (P trim)at BG for the 1st time. We were able to get the car in the 10s in i believe 5 passes and some tuning on the FAST. The car has Ported irons, 206 roller and a Cottons FM. The car a best of 11.20 s at 119 with a PTE53 or 54.

He ran a 10.80 at 124 + at BG. He runs a 9/11 converter but I cant recall his stall. We installed a GT67 "Q"on a car with a 3400 stall converter and it will not spool. But the car has a huge cam of unknown origin.

Thanks for the info Louie

I've been trying to call John Graig the last 3 days, but his line is busy.

Do they make a p trim and a Q trim GTQ67? What exhaust housing was he running when he couldn't get it to spool with the 3400 stall? Im running a 3400 stall, but im pulling it to have it checked and can change the stall if I need to.

Local guy named Pete(aka Bubba) was @ BG, and went 10.8@129 with 67GTQ. I believe he has a 9/11-3800 stall.

Actually Peter Retzko went 10.73 with his PS GT67 against Dave England in Round 2.

Yup" Fat Bubba" had one with a ported shroud housing. His car picked up(from 126 to 128-29) in this event mostly from going to a MAF trans set up from a Reds chip and stock MAF. We spoke at great length about it.

They make both trims, the q becomes a big shaft turbo where a p trim is not. At least thats what i observed by looking at both units.

I stand corrected. :) I had the mph right.;)

Not to hijack this thread, but what was the conclusion, about the maf/chip switch? I heard his maf was bad, and he needed a new maf regardless of wether it was a chevy maf/translator set up. Did he just gain 2-3 mph from the chip/maf change? Did the boost/timing go up or down?

When i spoke to FB he never told me he had any problems with the old MAF set up. He did tell me that it was running too rich or lean and thought it was the chip. We spoke quite a bit about FAST and the translator over some cold ones. He bought a plain Trans. I dont know if he turned the boost up ,or timing. He never mentioned it so i really dont think he did.

Ive heard of folks back in the day gaining 30 hp when going to an old school DFI from the stock MAF removal alone. There was a discussion on this in the old GN TType archives.

The better flowing MAF and better tuning / chip calibration could certainly give him the above results.

I don't think you understand the whole point of the GTQ67. The GTQ denotes a new garrett GT technology Q-trim exhaust wheel. Asking for a P-trim GTQ 67 would be the same thing as asking for a P-trim T76Q. If everyone called it a PT67-GTQ instead of a GTQ67 it would really simplify things and reduce confusion. Then other turbos would be PT67-P, PT67-Q, etc, etc.

Louie,

I spoke to FB over a few cold ones last night about the maft and his results. He said the boost or timing did not change. He did say the tunability and idle behavior of the car improved. Also the car would not "load up" and stall after doing a burnout with the old chip/maf. From his results @ BMP, to the results @ BG, the thing that did help the car pick up, was locking up the converter. He attributes that for the car picking up 2-3 mph.

Well locking the converter will pick up 3 mph all right. I was under the impression that his improvement was just from the swap, as he never told me otherwise. Well none the less thats a fast car. He made the right move and will go faster easier.Once he gets the 60 ft down hell be in the 10 teens.
