Going there for a year of IA duty in a couple months. It is going to suck to be away from my wife and kids for that long.

My dad (member here and also the one that got me into TR's) is gonna take my WH1 for while I'm gone. Hopefully I can send him some money every now and then to get some parts!

I have been there many times. It is hot hot hot. There used to be dependents there and that was nice being able to see normal people. The Exchange was a little taste of normal life. Make sure you take your snorkel and SCUBA gear.

I thought there were still dependents for people that are actually stationed at the base? I don't know though. I haven't been outta the states since I moved here from England when I was 3!

I seem to remember them talking about Gitmo now bing an unaccompanied tour station now, but I could be wrong.

I was there this past July and yes they have dependant for those with PCS orders and is hot as heck. The Exchange is bigger and better. A very nice Goatlocker and great scuba diving. I won't be surprised if they start bringing people from Haiting to help them out. It's really bad in Haiti right now.

This is also what my plans are for the Buick this year...storage When I get back though we should be 90% debt free so I should have a lot of funds for upgrades then!!

Just realized that I'm going to have to cancel the college courses that I am in the middle of. I ship out end of March but they don't end till the end of April I know I will be able to take them again when I get there, but I don't want to be trying to finish them when I am jumping around to different stations for training for that last month. Oh well.

Well, here now. Got here a bit over a week ago. Yup...it's HOT!!!! And VERY humid!! Feels like I have a wet towell wrapped around me all the time!


The internet is SLOW!!!! No hard cables going off island. All the bandwidth is through a satallite connection. That really sucks!

It is amazing how well we treat the detainee's here in GTMO. I really don't approve of the things we give them...but it isn't my decision. All of them act very nice to our faces...but then you go and read the evidence about what these guys have been accused of doing. Makes me sick.
