Well done.

It sounds like you were able to leave the line with a good amount of boost, or your torque converter isn't stock? Notice that as the air got cooler, the mph went up. Now, get a scanmaster and we'll trim a bit of fuel, adjust a "little" timing, and put that thing deep in the twelves, with the parts you've got on it. Just take it slow, and enjoy the journey.

Congrats...

sometimes u need another motorhead to feed u boolshat just to piss u off and at the same time motivate u- i say 12.39 with a 1.81 60 foot. go beat that ass!

13.7@96 2.2 60'

Glad you made better #s. I see you have some drag radials on. I missed that in #1. That had more effect on your times than the stock downpipe. If I noticed them I would have said 13.3. That's a good start for you.

Its hard to guess since we really don't know the over all condition on your car. Based on the the mods you have and assuming everything works as it should(valvesprings etc.) you should be able get mid 12's if you do your job as a driver. A stock turbo and downpipe will take you to very low 12's and possbily high 11's with a good 60'. I do wonder what type of exhaust your car really has though because unless its a really low mileage car the stock exhaust would likley not last this long or at least would be in very bad condition. It was very common back in the day for cars modded like yours to run low 12's at 20psi of boost only we used race gas back then because that was pre alky injection.

I do agree with some of the others about the downpipe. Do not waste your money until the car runs at least low 12's or high 11's. Years ago a guy here on the board tested his high 11 second car back to back with the stock downpipe vs. a THDP and the car picked up no ET gain and about .5 mph. Lots of people throw parts at thier cars and expect them to run right but I would take my time and get your car running right before you start with a laundry list of mods. Upgrading the exhaust would be a good idea and with that and the mods you already have I would not upgrade until you got the car running at least 12.40's on the stock stuff or else you will be spending money that you don't have too. I am always shocked when I see the list of mods in some people's signatures and see times in the 13's. My first GN ran 13.29 with nothing but a K&N, old school hypertech chip, and a dump pipe on regular 235/60 off brand tires.

So before exhaust what mods do You suggest i do?

Converter is stock I believe... Should I look into exhaust or try trimming fuel and timing first?

By the way guys my exhaust is stock style but only a 2-3 years old so if I dont need to I probably wont change it for now.....

Goal et is 12.70 for now:D

Get yourself a cheapo manual boost controller and a mid90s windshield washer tank, hobbs switch, and nozzle and crank that stock turbo to 23 lbs and add some timing with it. Less than 50 dollars invested. That should get you your goal quite easily

Congrats and I'm glad you had a good time. It sounds like you have a good running car that will only get faster. It's always nice to start with a solid foundation, otherwise the walls will crumble under pressure. :)

What exactly do all those parts meke?

Think he is refering to a DIY alky kit. IMHO I would stick with an Alkycontrol kit from Julio. That's one mod worth every penny.

13.1-13.4@100-102 mph

Depending on outside temperatures, don't expect a great 60ft or time through the stock exhaust system.

I had basically same mods last year that you have and did a best of 13.4 @ 100mph and a horrendous 60' time (1.9) No Alky , running at 17 Psi boost.

Were you running a TE-44? On 18' of timing, lots of alky, and pulling back on the fuel, with an unopen motor I went a best of 115.5mph in the mid to low 12 range with a bad 60ft through the stock exhaust, trying to see how fast I could go with the stock exhaust.

Oh ok thanks... As for that i do already have the Razor kit.. Just scared to turn the boost up higher than 20 with the stock exhaust.... Maybe its time for a dynotune..

What is the reason for keeping boost down? With 0 knock, crank it up. The stock turbo becomes less efficient over 22 or 23 lbs but I ran my stock turbo and exhaust, no cat, with alky @ 22lbs for 2 years and well into the 12s.

crank it up! The fast stock turbo cars run 25psi and timing. I wish I would have had the razor kit last summer I would have done it. Got a te44, thdp, duttneck ic to go along with my cam, ported heads, exhaust, etc., can't wait to try it all out.

Stock Turbo, No alky, 17# boost (max), On 93 Octane (had a bit of KR @ 17Psi at the top of third gear) , 95F outside temp.

My first time to the track, I ran an old KB HiLo chip in my low milage car and went 12.7@107 with a 1.97 60ft, with 20psi on a cooler day. With a Hot Flash chip the car went 12.3@108 with a 1.67 60ft 19psi on a warm day. The best the car in my signature went was a 12.7@105 with a 1.82 60ft and 21psi of boost. But that was with the stock injectors and I know they weren't that good.

Hello again guys... Took the buick back out last Friday and got a new personal best... Since last post new mods are RJC powerplate, 2.5 ATR SS catback with pitbulls, and a Dutt neck intercooler. Im still running stock turbo and downpipe. I also went with a 255 MT drag radial and mounted them on the T wheels....Boost is now set around 22lbs.....Heres a pic from last week..

New best ET slip read

60' 1.90
330 5.31
1/8 8.18@85.16
1000 10.69
1/4 12.86@103.87

During this pass I saw a quite a bit more knock than I wanted to see on the scanmaster so I proceeded to turn boost down throughout a couple more passes until the knock was gone.. It was pretty cool out last week so the boost was creeping to around 24+lbs... After turning it down I ended up somewhere around 22lbs of boost..

Other passes were 12.90@104 and 12.95 @ 104

My goal et from the beginning was 12.80's.... Maybe 12.50's will satisfy me.....

Nice! Good looking car too!

What were the 02s reading when it was detonating? I know every car is just a little different, but you should be able to turn the alky up until you dont have any more knock. That's always how it been with my car.

Those arent bad time either. What injectors are you running? What chip?

I went a 12.39@107~8 I believe it was on the stock turbo/IC(no Dutt neck)/convertor/injector setup. I did have the THDP, but without a cutout though. I think the fastest I got with the stock downpipe was a mid 12 with a unported elbow. Also I was running 26psi all the time. I just gave it fuel and alky to keep it happy. I put 42# injectors and a TT alchy chip in it and it ultimately went 11.98@111mph on a 275/50/15 MT DR.

Oh and as for the ET goals, you wont stay satisfied very long... TRUST ME on that one!:D

Thanks sir for the compliments.. During the knock o2's were around 630.. Im running 42lb's with a Tweak alky chip

That's what we all say... And nice going on the runs. Good ET for those mph's.

Thanks Mateo
