Just put money down on my Ruger GP 100 weily clapp edition that i was talking about. And saw an ole' rustic looking Ithica model 37 16 gauge pump for $139. It needs some TLC but it should clean up nice. So I bought it. I also almost bought a mossberg 500 tactical ($149), but it was sold when i called back. guess it wasnt meant to be.

Not trying to be a negative nancy here, but just so you know... stating publicly that you were going to purchase a firearm for your friend and if done, is what is known by the BATF and FBI as a shell purchase. If convicted, it can get you 10 years in prison.

When I worked for my local gun store in Indiana, we had to refuse sales all the time because of people trying to purchase guns for their friend or relative who could not legally buy a firearm. Picking up on the clues of wrong doers and people with criminal intent was very tough, especially when it was a wife or grandpa claiming they were purchasing a gun for a family member. Now, I don't know your situation, but I definitely advise against what you said you were thinking about doing.
Just trying to help.

Your not being negative Nancy. It was a good point. I work about 2 hours from the gun store I bought my gun. We were going to do the transfer at his local gun shop so it would have been legal. But you make a valid point.

No, you are just being honest Patrick...

OP, DO NOT DO THAT.... We had a sign, I need to get it back out I guess:D, in the shop once that said doing that exact same thing could get you X number of years in FEDERAL PRISON! I forogt how many but 1 day is too much:eek:

If a FFL holder sales you a gun knowing you are selling it to someone else he may be, and should be IMO, liable too... A simple transfer fee can protect both parties and having a legally purchased firearm is the only thing you ever want in your possesion... I turn down so many deals on guns because someone doesn't want to show ID, oh well ain't worth it to me.... You DO NOT WANT TO MESS WITH THE ATF!

Lastly, you should never mention such things in a public forum eithero_O

" You DO NOT WANT TO MESS WITH THE ATF!" NOPE!
Especially with their record of honesty, and collusion with the asst chimp.

I got the point. But if I would have been selling this gun and transfering it legally at a gun store. I don't see what the deal is.

They're just bringing it up to those that might think about doing it. Even private sales can be a pain. I make sure of keeping a record of who I'm selling a weapon to if it's a personal sale. If they don't want to show ID and let me copy it then it's a nogo, period. Even had a few offer extra money to me if they don't have to show ID. It's just not worth it.;)

I just remembered, the other phrase that this is known by is called a "Straw purchase."

It "should" be legal to buy a gun for someone that can "Legally " own the firearm...

..
Believe it or not, no. :( Technically you can't even buy a gun for your kid if he's underage and once he's of age then it has to be transfered legally.

I just want to say this thread has gone far from what I meant it to be. I will post pics of the guns when I get them. Be a couple weeks going to San Fransico on vacation.

Does it have the disconnector or not? Very few had disconnectors on them so you can hold the trigger down and just pump the shotgun until it's empty.;)

Not sure haven't shot it yet. And how would I find out

Pump it like you've just loaded it. Pull the trigger and once it clicks hold the trigger and pump it again but close it slowly so you hear the hammer come down on the firing pin.

The hammer came down. So I'm guessing it fires the whole time I'm pumping
