Does anyone now where i can buy sealed beam conversions from? There was a good post about it before, that provided alot of helpful information. I started the thread ,but it seems someone went ahead and erased it. The only reason i can think of why it was erased was maybe becuase there was links to places that sold the conversions.

i tried looking through many websites, but cannot find the headlight i am looking for, which is the one that is diamond cut, and fancy looking.

Why don't you try some import speed shops in your area. They usually carry anything and everything to do with lighting. Thats the guys who usually carry the stuff around here anyway.

How about info on the wiring kit...I know that you can't just hook up H4 bulbs to our wiring harness, because I've tried. The H4's make the inside set of high beams come on, and makes you have to unhook them...

AsphaltAnihil8r...on that website, are those lights H4's?

Thanks

John yes they are

What I did was use one of the stock headlamp plugs to energize a relay that powers the bulbs directly from the battery

So...
heavy gauge wire from the batery to one side of the relay (Normally open)
then from the other Normally open contact to the bulb ,then heavy gauge wire coming out of the bulb to the frame (ground)

the coil of the relay is energized by whichever wire has power for the low beam

Do the same for the high beam

I used 2 relays 1 for the highs one for the lows

I am sure there are easier ways of dooing this ,but I like a challenge:rolleyes:

Call Caspers and ask if they still hae the wire harness for the H4 conversion,,would have made it alot easier

Or try painless wiring

These are for sale on Ebay at almost all times. Just search diamond headlight or crystal headlight or try each also with headlights. You will get a lot of listings and they will charge too much for shipping, but you can still pay less than store prices.

And the kits for our cars normally have the adapter harness included and they use DOT legal lenses.

Actuall in thinking about it all you would need is the proper Faston type female and male connectors for headlights and six pieces of 12-14 gauge wire about 3 inches long.

Make 6 male to female adaptors crimped and soldered and plug the males into the existing socket and plug the female ends onto the new lamps.

This is of course having the proper wiring diagrams of the low, hight and grounds for both light systems. And you must also know that the stock system can power your new H4 lamps safely.

Mine didn't and I now use relays for the high beams on all 4 lamps.

Im not sure the stock system can handlle wattages above 60 watts. U can fry the switch if you are not carefule light with the stock wiring harness. I plan on using 90 watts HID looking lights, so a relay is a must for me.

Have you heard about the direct replacement bulbs? Sylvania makes the "coolblue" set.

Low beams are H4656 CB and are 40/55 watt lamps.

The high beams are also available. The prices are a little more than the stock replacement.

They are bright enough for me.

check out their website

Note that these are 9004 type lights.

Those sylvia are rated at a color temperture of 3700k, which is not bad considering some of those cheaper xenon bulbs are 3800k. But i bought them once. I installed one of them and left the other side stock to look at the difference. Too me there was no noticeable difference!!! Both had the same yellowish tone to them. Needless to say, i returned them both back to pep boys.

They sell xenon bulbs that are rated for 4300K which i think is as close to HID as you can get. They sell for about $25 per pair. There was this one cool light bulb which i came across during my search (cant find that website now!!!), that emmitted a ring of blue glow at the base after the lights were shutofff.

Yea, i know, i got issues :)

Those lights are typically called "angel eyes" popular with the BMW crowd. It has a seperate bulb behind the headlight that wires into the running lights.

Yeah, I just noticed that JC Whitney sells H4 lamps in a bunch of wattage sizes kinda cheap. Gonna order a pair from them too. :)

midnightmoose.com they are fairly priced and are real glass housings that can accept h1 bulbs or h4 they have kits that come with bulbs but I would recommend opting for the eaglelite xenon bulbs in h4 configuration they are really white and not that blue bull crap :)

I don't know if you got the right cool blues... I did the same thing and the difference from the standard halogen to the cool blues was astounding.. Maybe someone did the ol switcharoo at the store? and ya got a reg halogen in a cool blue box. Let me tell ya.. the difference is night and day. There NO mistaking it..

Take note that the LOW beam may still not be bright enough for you ,,What I did with my H4 conversion using the Xeon Plasma bla bla bla bulbs was to wire themm so that I was using the HIGH beam filament all the time and not using the low beam filaments at all ,,but remember to angle the headlights down a bit some everyone doesnt give you the bird;)
