Both of my 1985 Hot-Air cars have the 25524140 block which I understand was available for late 85 Hot Air Cars. I am thinking of building the engine, making it an intercooled setup and running a stand alone ecu. My only worry is that the block is not going to be strong enough or as strong as the 109. Has anyone made a Moderate to High horsepower 140 block or am I in uncharted territory? Also are there any differences from the 140 block to the 109 block other than 140 blocks require different head bolts/studs because of the thread starting points also they have a higher deck height than the 109?

A 4.1 block is less strong than any of the other RWD blocks but the 4/1 has been into the 10's. That should answer your question.;)

All of the V6 Buick blocks are designed basically the same. The 4.1, which is a larger siamesed bore version of the 3.8, is the weakest of them. If you do the proper prep you could make it into the 8's with the right tune and no knock. The only real difference between the earlier (pre 109) and the 109 block is the oil passage was mover to a more outboard position, a slightly shorter deck height, and the 20 bolt oil pan

If you want mid 9s go buy the TA block. It won't crack our break in half.

You say mid 9s now. It will be high 8s next.

I'm building a 140
rjc girdled, gn1 long rod stroker now, hope she holds together
