Wow, anybody have any secrets on how to get lo/reverse in and seated all the way? Even if I try to drop it in attached to the output shaft with the clutches and everything as one piece it binds up in the case and I can't get it to sit down all the way so I can get the snap ring in. Tried a little vaseline but didn't work. Should I break out the file:)

Just a pain in the butt! Of course I do not have the GM tranny tools.

When Eric Schertz gets back from Bowling Green next week, give him a call and iamvery sure he would be more than willing to help. May even do it for you, he is just that type of guy! :D

low/rev housing install

If the cup seal is not in the case, it should slide in. You might need to de-burr the edges of the low/rev clutch housing a bit.
There is a thin snapring which must be put into the case after the clutches for the low/rev housing to sit on, then the low/rev
housing and its beveled retaining ring. Hopefully you have it together by now. :D

JUst curious, if you dont have the lo/reverse tool, how did you get it out? If it came out, it will go back in but it has to be inserted straight.

I was thinking about filing the edges a bit but I didn't want to be a butcher and do something stupid.

I got it out with magnets but it was tough.

Yeah maybe if I pull the cup seal out a little bit it will help.

Thanks for the suggestions, I'll try this weekend

Hey bud, dont drive that lo/reverse housing in over that cup seal. You will tear it for sure! In fact its probably messed up already. Take it out, install lo/reverse housing, then drive in a new one. you dont want a leak there.

Cup seal

I got the housing in yesterday. Just so I don't screw up, the cup seal is the seal that has to be removed with an extractor from the bottom of the case right? The one that goes to the hole in the lo/reverse housing?
