Okay, I have ever single bolt off of my oil pan except for that one on the passenger side that holds the tranny lines or whatever. I can't seem to get a wrench up in there, nor a socket with a universal and I don't really know what size it is. What do you guys use to get that out? Also, after I get that bolt off how do I go about removin the pan? And how in the hell am I going to get it back on???? Also, I'm trying to remove the front cover to replace the timing chain and I don't know where the damn belt tensioner is. I've been looking for a place where a bolt would be able to slide or the alternator but I don't see anything. Also, it's really hard to see anything going on under the car, is engine degreaser strong enough to get all that oil off so I can identify things easier? There was another question I had but I can't remember it right now.

Oh, my other question is how do you know when the timing chain or whatever is at TDC like it says in the gnttype.org directions? How do I know when I've rotated it far enough?

Okay, now I have the dust cover and all the oil pan bolts off. I can move it freely all over the place but I can't get it past the K member or whatever it is that's in the way. It is also hitting the flywheel or whatever it is just a little bit. Any advice?

Rotate the crank slightly see if that helps. You also take the nut off the tranny mount anf jack up the trans and it will come out cause that changes the angle of things. As a last resort remove motor mount bolts and raise the engine.

Remove the alt, under it will be 2 bolts that hold the tensioner on to the assy. brackets.

Tdc..

After you remove the front cover there are 2 dots. One on the crank gear and one on the cam gear. Cam goes at 6 oclock and crank at 12 oclock that is TDC.

Well, I finally got the oil pan out. I did jack the transmission up but to no avail it still didn't give me enough clearance to get it out. So, what I ended up dong was taking out the driver's side motor mount and jacking up that side of the engine until the pan finally came out. The damn pump screen was in the way!!!! Anyway, after close inspection, the caps and everything seem to be okay, and there was a little bit of metal in the pan, along with the most clogged pump screen I've ever seen. Thank god I bought a new one. And finally, there was one piece in the pan that kind of worried me. Only this one piece, about an inch long made of metal with a lot of little holes in it. I'll take pics tomorrow morning and post them on here but I'm not sure what it was and I don't know how it got into the pan.

Since you are there you should pull a few main caps, check thrust, rods etc.
