Headers glowing while "free revving"?

Tonight we were trying to pinpoint a noise from the motor, tapping a little, does it about 2000-2500 rpm, while holding the rpm's there, the driver side header was glowing red. I'm not sure if the passenger side was glowing or not. I had my egt on, and it said 1100-1200. My blm's were good, like 130, Int. was about the same. I was beating it a little tonight, never got more than .7 degrees KR, so I've got fuel. Never noticed this before, is it normal? Thanks!

Sam, I know I've read this on the GN list or here that it is normal. Probably why I had the bad DS header crack between the 3 and 5 that I just had fixed.

I've seen that on my T-Type. If it is held at a high idle (2000 or so) for a period of time, they glow! Never tried it on my other cars, but I too was trying to diagnose problems at the time.
