I'm heading to the track this weekend to make some shake down passes with my new combo. Currently I have a chip (TT 6.0) burned for 18psi, 93 octane/no alky, w/18* timing. I know while I'm at the track I'm not going to be able to swap wastegate springs because it's too much of a hassle. :frown: With that being said I'm only going to be able to do 1 or 2 things. Adjust timing or adjust AFR. My question is which one do I try first.  As of now I think I'm rich. 10.9 AFR in the top of third.

I will be on some MT slicks to try and get some consistent 60's. I'm not going to use the trans brake (Stock Drive Shaft) but try to leave at the same boost level every time off the foot brake.

Please throw me some pointers as I will be ALL on my own @ the track.:(

do you have a roll bar ???
with that combo youll get one pass then the boot

No cage yet. I will be adding it this summer. So you are telling me, I might go faster than 11.50's on 15psi with this combo. I might go ahead and put an 18lb spring in the wastgate tonight.

yep with that combo..... even with a 'soft' launch you will definitely get the boot.... that is unless you know the track techs and officials....but my guess is, one or two passes and they will pull you........ BUT THAT's a GOOD THING:eek::D..... it means you are doin something right

Yeah, should go 11.50 easy with heads/cam with a stroker. I went 11.6 with a 17 psi in 1st and about 10 psi the rest of the way off the foot brake

My track !!

Sorry we had a timming failure .car 36 did not get an et . Works once or twice .then the boot t- shirt. I find when i go easy on my car she gives better ets .when i pusher to the edge she breaks .i can allmost hear my credit cards screaming .noooooooooooooo. Good luck and have fun .

10.90 is a little rich. Most guys seem to tune for 11.00 - 11.50. If you don't get a good launch I doubt you will run quicker than 11.50. If your brakes will hold on the foot brake try to leave between 10 - 12 psi. I've been leaving off the trans brake at 12 psi with a stock drive shaft for 2-yrs with no problems.

Really excited for you Steve. Good luck out there and keep us posted. Sac has some really good guys working up there and track prep has been very good recently I've been told.

Enjoy!

Go get 'em Steve! Hope to hear of good results. Don't be surprised if you run faster than a 11.50 with that combo, I had a best last year of 10.73 @ 125 with a 6152 @ 22#.

Tunning Approach

Alright guys, after reading for hours between this site, the Vortex site, and the TT site, I think I know how I will aproach the tunning aspect. Just like RJ said, I will shoot for that 11.0 - 11.5 AFR first. I do believe I'm on the rich side due to it being a 18lb chip and me running 15lb. What ever I do it will be done in small increments and documented! I'm excited, & nervous.

It's strange that it's my B-Day today and all I can think about is the track.

RJ, after you just said that, I think I will try to leave off the brake w/some boost.:p

Thanks guys, I will post what she does as soon as I get back.

Waiting for numbers, hopefully this thread will not be like the others who ask for a guess but never post their results.

Here you go. Even has a few videos.

I really didn't ask for times, it was more on how to approach the tune. The guys just started making predictions.

All in all the car runs really STRONG. It had the 11.50 e.t on the last run, but my intercooler hose poped off right after the 1/8th.

I will start playing with the tune the next time out.

On another note, there was another GN @ the track that day running 11.7's. While in the lanes, I was reviewing my data and the guy that owned the GN approched me and we began chatting about the cars when he asked me how much boost I was making. When I told him 15~16 psi he was really surprised. I asked him how much boost he was running he told me 21~22. Right in that instant I knew this motor was working. HEADS and CAM make all the difference in the world. To be honest I'm happy with how the car runs now. I can only imagine what it will run when I turn it up to 21~25.

Congrats Steve. Once you lean the tune out a little, turn the boost up and leave harder off the trans brake the only thing that will be holding you back is a roll bar.

I ran last weekend and the track was really biting. I was leaving at 14 psi off the brake on a stock drive shaft.

Thanks RJ. You just called out my next game plan.;)

14psi!! WOW!! I thought the 9psi launch was hard.
