Some jerk gave me a qoute of $250 to redo my headliner on a T-top. is that even close? sounds to much to me. whats the best way to fix this? I ripped off the headliner today because I could not see out the back window.

You should be able to get one installed for around $75. Actually less work on a TTop car than on a full roof. The foam is part of the new material for the headliner. You have to scrape all the old foam off the styrofoam backing and apply spray trim adhesive and smooth on the new headliner material. Obvously, the $250 guy was trying to CHEAT you.

I took my Hardtops HL out myself, took it to an upholstery shop and had it redone for about $65. It was so easy I forgot how I did it.

The instructions are on GNT-type.org

$ 250  WOW thats a rip off, call around, I found a shop by me that did mine for $50. Other places wanted $125.

Yeah $250 way to much especially on a t-top car, i have a hardtop and i was only charged $125 i attempted to do it myself but the foam was all messed up so they needed to scrap it clean. should be about $75 for t-top

It's actually really easy to get the foam off. Just take a wire brush and go over the backing after you take the old headliner down. Scrape it clean with the brush and makes sure all the loose pieces of foam are gone (I use compressed air for this step), spray the backing board and the new headliner with 3M Super tack adhesive, let it set up for about a minute and lay it on the board, working from the center out, combing it with a bondo squeegee. Overlap your edges, trim, done.

A problem I've run into while redoing the interior on my car is that the Styroboard was brittle and cracked in some spots. I broke it all out and when to the yard in search of a better board. Most that I have found are very brittle and hard to remove from the car. Is there any other alternatives to these old Styrofoam boards for our headliners?

I have had the same problem. I have repaired them by taking the broken off pieces and using duct tape to hold them from the back side(not the side you would glue the material to), and then joining them together with epoxy structural adhesive. Make sure you get it as smooth as possible because any inperfection will show up when the fabric is glued on. If not you can get a complete headliner through www.originalpartsgroup.com the part number is L221400 and you need to specify the color. They use an ABS plastic board instead of styro-foam.

The T-top board on my Cutlass was all busted up, cracked in half, chipped corners, you name it.....

WITH the repair (fiberglass) work to the board, and re-covering it, I spent $100

There is also a guy on eBay that sells new ABS Headliner backer boards for the T-top G-body. You order them with whatever color you need already attached to the board.
