We are also experimenting with step cutting the core on the inside of the intercooler. This seems to slightly change how the air is distributed across the core yielding more heat extraction per C.I of stagger fined turbulator core. It also increases the amount of air it can flow without changing the end tank design.

I probably really need to take some detailed pictures of exactly what we are mentioning here and post them on the site.

hope this helps.

build a big nasty one for my turbo SBC GN and send it to me, ill try it out for you guys.

alot of people say that i should go air-water, but i really want to stay air-air, i just hope i can find one that will work well in a mid 8 second car.

Water to Air for the track , air to air for the street and track. The water to air will run hotter on the street after the water warms up your basically done in about 15 minutes, temps 15 to 20 degrees above ambient at 0 psi boost, and the water will take hours to cool down.

so for my street driven race car i should go with a air-air. now, how makes a HUGE one that will keep up with my setup?

And bring an ice maker with you to the track. Both have their pros and cons.

If you are looking for a intercooler for a mid 8 second car(or faster), the only ones that are going to have any kind of data that I know of is the V3 (might be hard to get), the V1 (also might be hard to get), the Paul Thompson intercooler (AKA "The Paul"). ;)

Lonnie Diers was making the V1 and V3 intercoolers years back. Right now the fastest of the fastest TSO cars run either the V1 or V3. "The Paul" is capable of going into the 7's and still keep the temps safe as well.

Jasons IC-475 is on a mid 8 second car as well.

For the kind of $$ you are willing to spend, as a wise man said above, look for the data, not propaganda. What might be "cool" on a 9 second car won't cut it running mid 8's.

Why have you not added the BA performance intercooler to the list of possible choices?
