ive got a engine combination coming together and everything is planned out basicly but before the few last details are set in stone i wanna run this combo by you fellas to see if this collection of parts will land me into the tens and all the while looking almost stock, minus a front mount, dp and a tb
as follows

basic 109 block .030 over trw's w/ ceramic top and antifriction

stock rods and crank/machined, all billet steel mains, studs

billet roller cam setup from SE Turbo.

ported iron heads w/ferrea valves, roller cam springs,1.65 T/D rockers, ceramic combustion chambers and exhaust ports, studs as well

matching intake(modified stocker kicked out to match felpro1200's)

70mm tb and precision plenum w/ powerplate

stock pass side header and aftermarket crossover and dr side... i cant remember the name.

ls1 maf and translator plus

front mounted intercooler bar and plate style core 12x24x4"

3600 stall w/ lockup
pts extreme transmission

3.5" thdp, not bought yet, too big? too small???

alky kit not bought yet....suggestions???

injector size....i wanna guess 72's???

ive not bought a turbo yet and wanted to go big and stock appearing... which is why i think precision the TA64 would go nicly with this combo. is this turbo gonna cut it?

any other suggestions in general on my emgine would be helpful

For injectors I would vote for 83 pounders, thats what I'm using on my build which is similar to yours except I'm only using the billet center mains because the end caps are plenty strong and the crank "bows" more in the middlle where the the caps are weaker.

Where did you get you heads and pistons coated at and how much did it cost?

83s huh.. well i guess it wouldnt hurt going a little over on injector. i got the heads coated locally by reputable shop called polydyn(think thats how you spell it. the grand total was over 230$ for the chambers/ including valves and exhaust including backs of valves. i know the owner and have brought him work so i got a small deal on them.

what about the turbo. thats the last big chunk of change so id like to hear what you all think on the selection

I'm looking into a few with Jack Cotton he's got competitive prices for turbo's as of late (will be talking to him today as a matter of fact). If this is a car you want driven mainley on the street the biggest turbo with enough grunt to almost get to the 9's with some primo tuning and lots of attenttion to the suspension ( the beefy rear swaybar I believe HR parts and stuff sells keeps you from twisting so you can launch straight and hard!) providing you have 35-3600 stall i would go with the GTQ70 and if you have a couple of hundredbucks extra the ball bearing would be even better w/alki that would kick much butt on the street, with the 83's no reason why you could see low low 10's almost nines but few have used the stock(modified for low impedence injectors) ecu without going to an aftermarket standalone EFI unit to go that fast.
By the way i didn't get the answer to the coating question-enquiring minds have to know!

this is a link to the website for the coatings i have.

the main thing with my combo is that id like it to be hard to find aftermarket parts "save for the obvious" and the turbo looking stock as a rock will be a big factor. yes i have a 3600 stall but if the GTQ70 looks like it is from a MAC truck then the "wolfe in sheeps clothing" effect will be lost parked around 11 and 12sec cars.

So far the TA64 is the biggest stock appearing turbo they make but you might be able to get it in a GT compressor wheel good for mid to low ten's.

I think you can stuff a 70mm compressor in a stock appearing housing, but that would be a custom deal. Why limit yourself to a stock appearing turbo, go BIG.

That looks pretty tempting for the money.

I know, for some reason i think that there is another wider one on evilbay. got it in my head 31x12x4.....i have it written down somewhere for what will fit our cars, cant find that piece of paper right now....

If you're interested, I have a "brand new" 3 bolt CPT 70 turbo, still in the packing box that I bought from Jack Cotton several months ago. I could give you a "terrific" deal on it.

It's sitting at Cal Hartline's shop right now. I could have Cal ship it to you direct.

The only reason that I'm not going to use it, is Cal and I decided to go with a much bigger 4 bolt turbo on the Stage engine he's building for me to achieve my HP goals

i think its better to show up stock looking, have somone talk alot of crap about your car, and make them pay through the nose. nothing in my mind screams fun more than that.

Many people have played around with that idea, but in the end, most other car owners know not to mess around with a GN, no matter what it "looks" like. ;) . I don't believe anyone who says their car is stock. I expect tricks. Just part of the game.

Heeeyyyyy wait a minute, so your saying that some people will tell you they are stock and they are really modified to the hilt. Jeeeeez I thought that those tires sticking out the front and that wierd turbo like noise coming from that " bone stock " Honda civic that wanted to run was not quiet right. Hmmmmmm ;)
