o, and what about mas airflows? i have like 2 LT1's and an ls1. is there any advantage to that?

The ebay headers are for 86/87 and will NOT work for your hotair.Ever.

You can use your LT1/LS1 MAF if you buy a MAF Translator.I've got one and it works really well.Plus you can use the translator to help tune.I like mine.

Now...I know you're enthusiastic about getting started on your performance build...BUT...

...You really need to reread what we're saying here about what mods to put on when. You won't need injectors til you get quite a way down the performance road:D .

If you don't have the right plugs at the right gap your car will run like crap.

If you don't have a Walbro pump you will detonate and kill your motor.

If you don't have a scantool you won't know what the hell is going on with anything.

There are a lot of us who have been down this road already and we're trying to help you take the quickest path to where you want to be.

As far as building the motor later, basically all a turbo shortblock has to do is not blow up:D .There's really not much exotic to be done with these motors and your cam selection is pretty small compared to most other motors.

Also,no-go on the 700r4.The 2004r is a good, proven trans and the stock convertor is a stout piece that will take you pretty far.

so what exactly is different between the 2 motors that makes it not work? i saw something with intakes that asked if the motor was centered or off center or something like that. will my stock headers still be decent? i figure lots of people are running them so yea lol
thanks
mark

Basically,if you want to bolt on the major 87 parts you have to bolt them ALL on.It's a pretty major undertaking but it's been done plenty. The longblock is basically the same but everything else needs to come out.

The stock passenger side header sucks but there are aftermarket alternatives.

Right off the bat I'd get the hooker duals from summit and a 3" downpipe from gbodyparts. That'll be a major improvement.Turbo motors don't like ANY backpressure in the exhaust. The more you can free it up the better.

Is the car you're looking at bone stock?

he said is had a flowmaster cat back (yea id defanately replace that) and 87 coil packs
would it be worth the cash to swap for 87 parts? im planning on doing the 86/87 computer swap and all the other ignition stuff, but what would need to be changed to make it 86/87 compatible? would i need to do the intake manifold too?

86-87 compatible? Im guessing you just mean the same as the 86-87 setup. There is a decent amount of stuff that needs to be changed over besides just the intake. If you really want to change over to the 86-87 setup, you could buy a complete engine like I did out of one of those year cars, OR you can get a hold of Intercooled88s. He has a hot air to intercooled conversion package for I think 1600. like I said, there is definitely more than what you would think that needs to be changed.

And to answer your first question, would it be worth it to change over to the 87 parts. Im guessing there your talking about the minor things such as the computer, ign module, coil, iat sensor. And yes it would.

If it's a 2 1/2" exhaust just replace the mufflers. If it's 2 1/4" replace the whole thing with the hooker duals from summit.

Are you in a state where you have to have a cat all the time?

why not look into the ultrachip, works get for me. 7 chips in 1. well there is 0 but that is LOCK mode car can't turn on the car with it on 0. Just make sure you hide the thumbwheel in a good place. With that said, when you order the chip you need to tell them what injector size your gonna run. I think you can change it later on but up 2 you. That chip goes for 160, not bad for 7-1 chips.
