For a quick fix when I had my car painted, I took the interior out of a low mileage parts car that was a V8 Limited and replaced my original Turbo T interior with it. All the outlining for the plastic trim pieces like around the dash and on the door panels is now fake wood grain.

I stored the original interior form my 87 T in the garage. All of those plastic trim pieces are outlined in grey instead of fake woodgrain and are in rough shape. Also, my original grey "Regal" passenger side dash plaque is missing (of course the most distinguished piece).

I want to change my interior back but I'm hosed if I can't replace the original grey outlined trim, especially the grey "Regal" dash plaque.

I was wondering, did they make any NON turbo Regals with the grey outlined interior trim? Is the grey only specific to the turbo cars?

Thanks,
Mike

Thanks,
So the grey is specific to the Turbo cars. I'll have to see what I can salvage and find from the garage.

Now that I think about it, I don't know if the gray trim is specific to the Turbo cars. I have a pair of gray door panel strips that came out of a plain Regal at the salvage yard. Maybe there was a mix of wood and gray dash inserts as well?

All 1987 Regals used the gray trim. Its not the darker gray stuff that was used in the GN or T-Types. Only on 1987. 1986 was the last year for fake wood trim in the Regal.

Thanks - that explains a lot. The interior currently in the car is out of an '86 Limited which is woodgrain. We have a gray interior out of another 'plain' '86 that also had the woodgrain. I also have some gray parts out of an '87 Regal that are gray but I've never compared them to the GN's gray parts.

In the 1987s, what is different between the turbo cars and the plain Regals? Just the dash pieces? Or are the inserts on the door panel chrome different as well?

Thanks,
Jim

The only difference is the shade of gray used on the door trim and the 3 dash trim pieces. Only the GN with trim code BY4 used the darker shade. The other Regal models all used the same parts.
