I am trying to replace the exhaust hosuing on my PT-70. I have replaced them in the past on other turbos with not much trouble but this one is very stubborn. I soaked it with PB blaster for 36 hours and it still wont even budge. Anyone have any ideas? Thanks

I used an impact gun when I removed the housing from my stock turbo.

How about a hand held torch to heat it up and a big effin hammer?
I've watched the guys in the repair room dis-assemble turbos on occasion and sometimes they have a stubborn housing. To the point that they have to literally knock the housing off with a BF hammer. Did all the bolts come out ok and it's just stuck to the cartridge?

I am almost embarrassed to say what I did but here goes. Take a large socket and a rubber mallet and work your way around the turbo and it will give.
It seems that the stock turbos just fall apart when the bolts are removed but the after market ones have much tighter tolerances.
Good luck.

I just had a simular issue. I couldn't get one of the crossover bolts loose, of course the last one. I hit it with a air hammer, must have knocked it loose, came right out. I had it soaked for days. That air hammer is the best $10 tool I've bought in awhile.

I should have been more clear. The botls came out fine, I just can't get the housing to let go of the catridge. I have never had one this tight but I guess the BFh will prevail:biggrin: , I just hoped someone had an amazing trick!

This is what I was referring too. Place a large socket between the center cartridge and the turbine housing and jam it between them and tap with a rubber mallet. A little barbaric but it works.

Ive used a big f'n brass hammer before with success. Once it moves a little id hit it with more oil and then it should come off.
