I have to keep my GN outside periodically this winter as I work on my race car. I need the elbow room. I don't like it, so don't beat me up too much. Anyway, my wife has four cats, and they like to get up on the buick when I'm not looking. I've already gotten some scratches in the paint from the little bastards. Any suggestions on how I can keep them off the car when it's outside? Thanks.

You have no idea how funny it is that you are asking this question today. My neighbor USED to have cats that crawled all over our cars. I would come out every morning and they would get scared and run off the hood or roof, leaving scratches. Captain Freeway just pays them a visit:) In fact, he went for a ride this evening......

If they belong to your wife, don't call Captain Freeway.

Unfortunately I would end up in Captain Divorce Court. :D
I can't seem to catch them on the car, though, so the squirt bottle isn't working. I have a squirt bottle with a splash of vinegar in it. Apparently cats HATE vinegar on their fur. I certainly would. :)

Car cover????? Never going to stop them from going on the car unless they are "relocated" as previously posted.

Never scare them if you find them on the car as they have a traction problem on paint.

Well my first answer is

Ruger 10/22! Sounds like you wife is like mine and that isn't going to float so:mad:;)

I had a friend that rigged his mustang GT with electricity, if an animal got on the car it was shock the socks off of him... Not kill him but give him something to remember;) How he did it I don't know, but I saw it with my own eyes... He was borderline genius and went on to NCSU to be an engineer so he had some brains to start off with...

Ground the body and run a hot wire so it keeps a charge just sitting there, seen it work with amazing results.

The Ruger is equally effective and permenant solution!

Of course there is one other way, ditch the water/vinager for your can of pepper spray!!!

Just open up the radiator...let them drink....and dispose of the little paint scratchers. You could also try the car cover idea and put tape on the outside in loops. Cats hate having things stuck on the feet.

Blankets then a car cover. Hook up a motion sensing light to turn on a 12 volt power supply that feeds a few horns around the car, or Captain Freeway.

Get you one of these..........

I was waiting on someone to post that lmao. Thats the 1st thing I thought of. My cat gets on mine sometimes, but its under a car cover.

Try putting a stuffed animal on the hood. They'll think it's occupied and move on to another place.

Try this...

Try tying all of their tails together. It will be nearly impossible for all 4 of the to jump onto your car at the exact same time lol

That way your wife gets to keep her cats and you have something funny to watch while you drink beer ;)

you'd have to be a real good aim

but desert eagle .50 will do the trick, maybe when they are just walking around the neighborhood. hell a shot from one of these and i guarantee you there won't be enough left to identify them.
