I just went from a D5 to a 9" 3500 stall torque converter. The trans seems to shift alot different now. I'm just curious how everyone else's feels like? BTW, this transmission just got refreshed along with the new TQ. It has every billet part made for it. Also...how hot does it get with this combo? I drove around for about 2 hours, the tranny lines seemed to be pretty hot to the touch. I am not using the radiator cooler at all, just a HUGE cooler mounted behind the grill. The pan is the deep PTS pan, which also was hot after driving around.

Thanks

when i installed mine (9.5inch vig. converter)shifts got softer and tranny temps went up 15 degress only when racing ..also when normal cruising the engine tends to rev. alittle more ..but a night and day difference coming out of the hole ,you can beat the smaller converter ..

i fix my soft shift problem today with the help of a brian . i got a extra large high performance tranny servo from a fellow board member (board name brian ) and it works flawless.it took 10 minutes to install and my tranny now shifts nice and firm barks the tires again even with the smaller converter .its a nice custom made one that is 33% larger than the GN`s 694. Not 11% bigger like the billet servos out there. You will not get the downshift clunk with this servo either. It will really raise shift firmness in any gear. You will be pleased, and suprised by the difference.i would recommend brian, you can contact him at :

will that get rid of the excess delay i have on the 2-3 shift under power?
I finally have it shifting 1-2 nice and firm and right on time and now i want to address my 2-3 overlap. If it wasnt for that the trans would be perfect, I hate to give up on this thing now its so nice for daily driving.

Thanks for the replies. I just got back from the track and it worked great. Going from the D5 to the 9" gave me an easy .3 on the 60'. This is with a PT54. When I put the trans in, I had no where to open it up. It gets to speed very quick :D I might look into that servo, currently there is a billet one in there. Thanks again.

sent an e mail, thanks. someone had said something about shimming the accumulator. i just want to get rid of the overlap before it eats the clutches. I dont know what servo it has now, its supposed to be a stage 2 unit already.
maybe ill just pull it and have someone go through it, really need to loosen the converter anyway, sold the one that stalled nice.;)

Which servo is this? the one on the side of the trans? What does it cost and how hard is it to install?
wickedtt I bought your Vig converter.
