While installing my new power plate I found alot of oil in the upper plenum. Since I have no hose from the valve cover to the inlet bell anymore I assume it may be blown turbo seals. Anybody rebuilt their own turbo before? How hard, special tools, etc....

i'm in the middle of it right now, not too hard, need a 12 point 10 mm wrench though.

I did both of mine, it wasn't hard. They only have a couple hundred miles of driving on them so far but they havn't failed yet.

Oil in the plenum is usually PCV related. Do a search on PCV and see what I mean.

I hope it is just a pcv valve. I bought the turbo used about a year and a half ago. The guy said it had about 5,000 miles when he sold it to me. I'll get a new pcv valve tonight. Alot cheaper than a turbo rebuild, but with my luck, I'll end up doing both. Thanks for the replies.

When you have some time just pull the hose from the turbo to the ic and check the turbo outlet for oil residue so see what shape the seals are in.
