I have mine at the machine shop now. I think im getting a forged 3.625 crank for it. Im using an RJC girdle. Im guessing everyone likes diamond pistons over any? I have to call up and order customs when I get with my machinist on Monday. Looking for some good forged rods to go with it all. For now I think im gonna try and get 10s out of stock heads and intake with a roller cam and PT54 on low boost.

Keep us updated

A little more info. would be nice.

It has 2 steel caps, hard-block, forged internals, roller cam, alum heads, stock ported intake, RJC deep pan, copper head gaskets w/o-rings, and using a 70 BB turbo.:)

Hey Nick I have three questions about the build/combo.
1) whats the static compression ratio
2) what aluminum heads and flow numbers @ .600 lift
3) what trans and brand converter/stall are you using.
Thanks Bill

PS: any updates?

August heat is BRUTAL here, especially after June and July!

So I went where it was cooler [Maui!], and now have been very busy getting the guys ready for 10 months of great racing weather.:)

First, let me comment on our engine builds, every one is different. We build to the customer's requirements and budget. Customer may not know what he wants, but does know what performance is desired. Working with this, we spec out the engine build [and more if asked] to perform in their given envelope.

In my case with the current 4.1, I built it for a 10.0 sec. index class, run quicker or faster than 135 MPH and it is a DQ. So to be competitive, the car should be able to go high 9's.

To give you some specifics, here is the info:

Comp. ratio is ~9:1

Intake valve flow @ 0.50 is 265 cfm

Trans is TH400 with custom built 8", 5000 stall converter.

Hope this helps.:)

As far as how the car is doing, hope to go out this Friday night for the second time with it.

So you can run alot of boost on that comp/ratio 9;1. I was wanting to know what good a comp ratio would be?

Hey Nick, where you able to take it out Friday? I miss seeing that white TType of yours run....Brutal!!!

I have one of Nick's old builds that's been rebuilt with pretty much the same specs except the copper gaskets w/ o-rings. I'm running a 76 BB turbo. My car runs 11.39@119 not even trying hard on pump gas and 2.0 60' times. 18 psi of boost. I should have done mine it a long time ago. I don't think it would be hard at all to run a low 10 with my car. Mine is also half hardblocked too.

We have a race event this weekend, so I hope all the little "bugs" are worked out so it will perform like I want.

It is a bracket race, so I plan to dial it in around 10.0. With really good weather forcast for Saturday, it may be hard to keep it out of the 9's even at 20 psi!:D

Sounds good Nick, let us know how it goes. Nothing wrong with running in the 9's:cool: I can't wait to get back to the west coast in about a year from now. I'll meet up with you again eventually. Hope to have my brick running in the 9's by then:wink:

4.1 getting the boot!

I took my 4.1 to a track rental and after putting some "track" race gas in the car I could not go any higher than 17 psi of boost and at that the knock sensor was going off. I had as much as 19 degrees of retard and I was only running a total timing of 17 degrees. I did manage a very disappointing 11.1 at 122 mph. Most people would be happy to go that fast at 17 psi but I am not. On the way down to the track with pump gas I got 0 knock at 17 psi. I did enjoy the day and racing for the first time on a pro tree and also wiping up on a cobra that was running 19 psi of boost. The cobra V8 has more cubes, running more boost and could only muster an 11.54. From the specs. or comparison I would think the cobra would be faster?

The 3.8 I was running most likely is going back in. It went 10.1 at 131 with a slipping trans. at 21 psi on unleaded and alky.

119mph@ 15 boost!!!!!

Or how about 134 MPH @ 18.7#'s average boost for the run!

And that was on a HOT August night, well over 100 degrees.

The high temp forcast for Saturday is a VERY cool 74 degrees, which is hard to believe after almost 100 deg. temp today.

Yes, i havent turned the timing to her yet, Nick your car is flying, but i dont have all the good stuff you have in yours, just some hypers!

The motor in my T has the hypers too. They are actually pretty tough.

The build in my sig is my aluminum motor in my GN.
