The "guru" at Aamco can't seem to fix the 2-3 stacked shift he says is in the valve body. He said he has done everything he knows of to fix it. Is this fixable and how much would it run? As of now I have a generic 200-4r valve body in my tranny and with Bruce's shift kit and the t.v. cable adjusted all the way in the shifts are still very soft.

Too soft shifts are not caused by the generic valve body.

It will cause the shifts to come at the wrong times, but anybody with a half a brain can make the trans shift hard.

What servo do you have?

I have an 85 GN (BQ) tranny in my 87 GN. They plugged some hole in the 85 servo and told me it would do the same thing as the upgraded 86-87 servo. The shift kit was taken apart so many times I bet there isn't a right part in the right location anywhere except the valve plate which can only go in one place.

The '85 trans will work in your '87, you really need the larger servo, and those can be bought from most of the vendors here...
Not sure if it is still available from GM or not..

PTS has them for $75 I think...

if you want to send me your VB, I'll look at the 2-3 shift valve, and check it out...I have measurements from a BQ ('85) VB, and a BRF but no extra springs from a performance VB...

Chris at CKperformance, Eric at DynoTech, Bruce, or others could probably fix it no problem.

85 BQ

Is a damn good unit. No matter what hole they plugged that servo still does not have the apply surface area of an 86-87 or a billet servo.
I do have one scenario for you to look at tho........as I did this once and had the same problem. Ck to MAKE SURE the roll pin is in the correct place on the 2-3 shift sleeve and the 3-4 shift sleeve. I got the roll pin in the wrong groove one night and had the same problem. It actually could be that simple, although if it is, you are one of the very lucky ones :D
I have also seen the spring in the sleeve break (2-3) and cause this also. Pretty remote tho... Worth a shot looking into tho;)

Speaking of valve bodies, What is a BRF valve body worth? I have one sitting on the shelf.
