i have a 87 GN with 36 # inj. and chip to match...but i still have the stock fuel pump...should i have an upgraded one? how much of a difference will it make?

You definatly need a bigger pump. A Walbro 340 with hotwire is an excelent choice. The stock pump isn't strong enough to feed the stock injectors.

Upgrading to the 340 and hot wire probably won't make that much of a noticeable difference in power. But it is a definite requirement if you plan on keeping the engine in one piece. You start cranking up the boost with the stock setup and you'll be changing head gaskets real soon. The 340 will carry you well into the 11's.

i already own the pump and kit...that is actually where i got it from, i have just not put it in yet b/c i am going to sell the car and wasnt sure if i wanted to put it in or not. how hard is it to put in? whats it take?

The difference will be, you'll be making "safe horsepower". With my stock pump and stock FP regulator, I could only get 53 lbs of fuel at 15 lbs of boost. Everyone knows that this is NOT enough. I now get 53 lbs of FP with only 8 lbs of boost with my Walbro 340 and billet FP regulator. 60 at 16 lbs.

Fuel pump and regulator should be one of your first upgrades. It's hard choice for some because everyone wants to buy "go fast" parts. If you don't supply the motor with enought fuel, you'll be rebuilding shorthly thereafter.

It only took me 2 1/2 hours to put in but i was taking it slow. Now i think i can do it in 1 hour. Just make sure the tank has no fuel much easier!!

If you are going to sell the car just hand the new owner the pump and wiring kit with the car.

No WOT runs on test drives either. ;)

That's what I would do if selling it.

i plugged the open barb on the wastegate solenoid so i am only running about 13 psi...so the stock fp should still be ok for this amount, right? i just dont want to hurt my engine...at the same time i dont want to put the walbro 340 in because i am ready to get rid of the GN...and I could just sell it along with the car or to someone else or use it in a future car, im thinking of selling the GN and getting a ttype or something...

I would not change the pump if your going to sell the car. You never know what your going to find when you get into the old set up. I just did mine and had to replace the sending unit as well......
