I was looking at my injectors to look for a size description. I can't see anything on them. The sides you can see are black in color. I can't see a "striped" color of any kind. Also, is the chip located within the computer??(stupid question I know!!) Thanks!

Are they 1 color or 2 colors? Look for part numbers on them and list them.
Yes, you disconnect the orange power wire by the battery, pop the kick panel off on the passenger side (inside the car where the passenger's right foot would be close to) and pull the computer out and disconnect the harnesses, then use a flathead to remove the inspection cover and the big chip is the one you care about. The smaller chip is the cal-pack. Dont worry about that one.

Looks like I was lied to when bought the car. That's okay I guess. I now need to figure what size turbo I have since that was BS too. I was told it's a TA49. It's probably stock too. Funny that with a Reds chip 93 and stock injectors I'm still running rich at WOT.

If you get a chance, take a photo of your injectors, there are a few injectors that are solid black but are actually larger than stock.

Seems odd that your running rich at WOT with a larger turbo and a reds 93 chip. If you had stock injectors and a larger turbo, it would definitely be lean at WOT.

What injectors did he say the car had? High Z 60's?

BW

Spoke w/ Eric at Turbo Tweak. Looks like I have stock injectors. At WOT, the o2 reading was around 800-830. HAD knock, but put in some 110 octane with 91 to get me around 94/95 octane. No more KR at this point. Now I need to figure a way of finding what size turbo I have. Any ideas???

Hi,
A TA49 has quite a bit bigger inlet, lets say about 60% larger than stock.Without a reference,it is tough to judge. I think the turbine is pretty stock, and the boltup is definitely stock. That is why they are so popular;shield fits right on too.

Did you give Eric any numbers off your injectors pre the statement "Looks like I have stock injectors." Red's chips are usually fairly agressive with timing and if for 93 oct & you're using 91--then knock could be expected unless you back-off boost...

What boost are you running for your "WOT info"?

As has been stated a TA49 will be stock appearing from outside--you need pull inlet hose/ pipe & ck size/ dia of turbo inlet...

I called Eric to ask about getting a chip, and mentioned that I don't know injector size/turbo size. I gave him some tiny numbers I found on the sides of the injectors. He told me they were stock size. I'm running about 15-16 lbs. boost at WOT. Knock was 9-13, but after adding some 110 to the gas, knock is gone. Next is bigger injectors and a Turbo Tweak chip combo!!!

OK, those tiny numbers on your injector sides are, in fact, the part no's we were asking about...

15-16# boost WOULD give you knock w/ 91 Oct & a 93 chip timing--and, do you know how accurate your boost gauge is--and if you may actually be getting some spiking beyond what you're seeing/ reporting??

You better crank your boost back several psi with current setup (or keep your foot out of it)--until you get squared away with new/ matched stuff.

I mean, RA's 93 Street Chips (older ones) would likely have 20/18 deg timing adv where others may typically have 18/16 deg built-in...

aaah... would this be a bad thing??? as you probably guessed i have a Reds 93 chip, i got it less than a year ago, but barely got to use it cuz the car was down.... can you tell me anything else about the cip, timing, ech...... thanks once again

Timing is usually shown on backside of chip on a sticker--take a look. Bad thing re: higher timing is especially if you're running only 91 oct on a 93 RA chip, & the timing may be even somewhat high for a 93 chip--let alone a RA 93...

If you have a larger than stock turbo & IC, then the "higher timing" for a RA 93 should be OK. Also, RA 93 Street Chips tend to run rich @ idle (at least mine did these "BAD things") ...

i heard that this chips run high on fuel before... well i got a ta49, dutt neck, #50s, walbro pump, hot wire... just to name a few things..... i guess i need to call TT...
