How should i prime the new motor for the first start up...thanks...

Get a old distributor from a v6 or v8 Buick motor, might have to knurl down the drive end to fit in your drill if it is a 3/8, stick in the place where the cam sensor goes and turn clockwise til primed, you will notice the drag on the drill motor, I also install a make shift oil press. gauge to verify, do not forget to pack the cavity in the oil pump gears with vaseline.

There is a very good explanation in gnttype.org. To make a long story short, you can use a SBC priming tool (I cut the top off of an old chevy distributor and remove the shaft). Place the priming tool shaft into the hole where the cam sensor goes and over the oil pump shaft. Remove one of your oil cooler lines, connect it to one end of the oil cooler adapter and place a funnel in the other end. Fill the oil pump through the funnel, work the priming tool by hand until oil begins to move out of the otherport of the oil coler adapter. Loop the oil cooler line to the other side of the oil cooler adapter and put a drill on the priming tool and turn it clockwise until oil squirts from the rocker arms. Remove priming tool and (if your engine is already set to number 1) drop cam sensor in and set cam sensor to spec. After installing engine, remove one end of oil cooler line and connect to lower oil cooler port (on radiator) conect the upper line to the radiator and fill oil cooler with oil, finally connec the upper line to the oil cooler adapter.
