Self-loading wheel lift tow trucks have been around for over 30 years, I used and sold them in the early 1980's! :)

Nick your the most interesting man in the world, any subject, any topic, you have some type of experience. What beer do you prefer?

Chris, in my younger, formative years one of my decisions was that when I would be relegated to a wheel chair, or not, I never wanted to say "I wish I had done that"! :)

One of my other goals was to "retire" with a business/hobby I could enjoy and have fun with.

So far both goals have been reached, especially with over 25 years owning and working on turbo Buicks, especially after a lifetime of retail auto repair and related businesses and dealing with the general public and the few ungrateful customers that could never be satisified. :(

I did OK financially, but my goal of getting "rich" has been accomplished by the MANY friends have developed over the years, which has much more value to me than the material items in life.

There are only a few things I do well, but now it mainly revolves around turbo Buicks and the people, even though I still have a passion for all vehicles, especially the muscle cars.

My plan is to be around a little longer to share my experiences and help, especially in the turbo Buick community. ;)

Honest business man to thief in less than a minute. Wonderful...

I used a dynamic for ten years when repoing cars. The only thing in that video he was grabbing cars with nothing on the other side of the street. Try that at 63rd and May in Englewood in Chicago. I would drive in the yard and push the car sideways into the street and my buddy would hook and book. When bullits are flying you want to get out of there. A friend of mine owns Midwest Dynamic in Il. Great trucks

Washington DC has a huge fleet of these trucks, those guys are DAMN good at operating them

Jeez! That really bothers me........here I have a Grand National and two Vettes........I'm just amazed! Don't think I'll be leaving the cars by themselves when I drive.....I'll just let my wife go in and do all the shopping.

And Nick, you've always been a great guy in my book............a most very interesting guy, smart to boot. Wish I had ONE HALF of your smarts and I'd be a very happy man.

After seeing that wow. Now I'm wondering what can I do to get the brakes to engage when the car turns off. If someone's going to tow it lets not make it simple??

Turning the wheels all the way one direction will make it harder to tow but not impossible. If a thief wants it a thief will get it. Having an cell phone hidden in the car when going into a restaurant is good idea for recovery. Just hope the battery is fully charged because the police may not care to much about a 80's g-body being stolen! We have the find my IPhone app on our phones so I could track it really easy. It is accurate to within 50' of its true location.

When I park my car in the garage I crank the wheels all the way over if the car is nose in and I block the door with one of our other cars. I also have a video camera in there too. Oh and don't forget the Taurus Judge and 90lbs dog as extra security.

You can lock the brakes and cut the wheel all the way they will just damage the car while taking it. When I would pick up a rwd car from the front because it was backed in I would lift car open jaws and let tires drop down and then squeeze the tires between the jaws and just drag it out. Your going to make noise doing it that way but you got to do what you have to to get the car. always kept a big bottle of lemon fresh joy in the truck.Dump it in front of the tires and there is a lot less noise. I dragged a silverado almost a half mile down a street. Needed tires after that one. If someone wants your car that bad they are going to get. I never stole a car I repoed them. There is a lot of thieves out there that can get by just about any alarm and be gone in an alarmed car in under thirty seconds without a tow truck

I said in my post that if a thief wants to steal it they will get it. The point is making it more of a pain in the ass. If they are going to destroy the front end of the car it becomes less desirable to steal. If they are having to over come each obstacle I put in their way the more time they will be in a position to be caught. Even if it is just seconds! Remember thieves steal because they want easy money which means they are somewhat lazy. If a car is too much of a risk and a pain in the ass they will move on to one who is easier to steal with less chance of being caught. If they want it bad enough they will get it and then that is where insurance steps in.
