Hey Jamie and Lee!!! How did you do? How many hot air's showed up? Did any Hot Air's win anything? Pics, vid would be great too!!!!!

John;)

Ha Ha

I did not race this year. But did drive my car down. 256 miles on 12 gallons of push water. Spent most of the week under my friends car, pulling trans twice. Don/t have a clue what happened on the track, did speak to Jamie as she had trans trouble also.

The one with the bat brake failed yet again. Thinking of trashing it all together, tired of trying to get something to work that never has. Went back to the tired and true and now can't hold boost at the line with out pushing through. Best all week was another 11.69 at 111 mph, it hooked. Other then that in order to cut .07 and .2 something lights best it would do was 12.00s with horrible 60's but a good week in all. (need to be able to hold the boost at the line, have a mod in the works for this) Did take first in non intercooled cars for the show though, that' s always nice. I don't think everyone that planned to be there was. Met some really great folks and my car is on page 15 of www.gsxcitement.com under car show pictures. You will see the 82 and another couple two tones then mine.

John From Kentucky was racing and his car was doing low 12's on 93 octane consistant all week. There was another all stock that was the runner up last year for his bracket, and one from Illinois only pitted a few spaces down, didn't get a chance to look at the car though. Was really busy trying to make connections and get mine dialed in. I also think there was another one there. I only talked to a few folks who actually owned one and had hoped to have met a few more. It's just a very busy time and it goes way too fast. Unless your swapping a tranny at the track then it really flys by.

Congrats on the first place in the show Jamie.:D Sucks that the tranny went out again.:(

John - I got some pics I will send you when I have a chance.

Jamie and Lee - Are you planning on attending the Midwest Challenge? Maybe we can get together down there.

bone stocker here

Another fun trip! Jamie your ride is fast
and beautiful. I only talked to you Fri
on my way out. The Hot air group was
fun. Talked Randy from Ontario into
taking his bone stock original 20k
mile sports coupe town the track. It
was his first time ever - I think it was a
17.0@80. He took 2nd after you and
Tommy's 82 took 3rd in the car show.
Even though the Hot air numbers were
small it was the nicest ever group.
My bone stock original 56k 84 matched
it's best ET at 15.4 on stock Goodyear
Eagle GT tires and 2.3 60' times. 14's
must be right around the corner! Too
bad I cut a -.080 (red light) this year
on Sat.

bye, Ed

I plan to make the challenge again this year was there last year and still nervous about racing but the owner there told me it was going to be fine. And it was. I like Morocco, it's usually a great group of folks. Ed was really nice to have meet you, would have liked to talk longer but was busy trying to get the car ready as usual. Randy did run a 17 second on a really pretty 1982 , it's in the pictures I posted just before my car. I think it needs to breathe. Ed if John can run low 12's on his combo I know you have 14's covered. I did a .23 light ran a 12.04 on a 12.00 dial and was beat cause the guy in the other lane cut a .07 light and ran his dial, but it was fun.

Congrats jamie!!! 11.6 is nuttin to cry about!!!! lol

Bryan!!! THANKS FOR THE AWESOME PICS!!!
sux about that GSX though....both walls huh?

Anyway...I just got a LEE THOMPSON ported intake...that's right Lee!!! HAHAHAHAHAHAHA...Another Mini-Lee in the makings....

Actually, it is for my twin brother's hot air...He is gearing up and getting it together. If you can shoot me an email lee, that would be great...i got a couple questions regarding this bad boy with your signature all over it (sweet porting), so gimme a shout: Racemybuick@yahoo.com

The intake came from a great fellow by the name Michael, show was restoring a hot air with his brother, who unexpectedly passed away. He shipped me the intake and I already cleaned it up and shot some pics. I am waiting to download them, and I can show you guys and girl!!!!

Anyway...enough of the hijacking.... I am glad there were more than a couple hot air people. Maybe with some luck and some $$$, there will be two more hot airs in the mix!!!

We'll see.

Proud of you Jamie!!!!
Thank you Bryan!!!

The above pic and this pic show two tapped holes (plugged). I assume they are for alky?

And the Blocked EGR...Nice.....

The orange stuff is what was used to seal the turbo to the intake, so dont mind that mess...it'll be off by monday!

Maybe!!!

Don/t know the history behind that intake, but that is the way I block off the egr. Also, those extra holes may be from years back when I tried extra inj. with mixed success. Actually my wifes first born (Big Daddy --Dwayne ) would have been the one who did the porting. On the egr block off, I also put a 3/4 in pipe plug in the hole. It will take one with a recess to clear the current 3/8 in. plug. The current 3/8 plug is tapped into a brass sleeve. It could blow out under high boost, hence the extra 3/4 plug for saftey. No disrespect to anyone but I am sure it will look better when blasted.
I wonder what road it has traveled to wind up @ you place.
I put my alky nozzles a little farther down stream.

hmmmm....I need to get a 3/4 plug then.....sweet. Also, I would like to hook the alky up into this bad boy....do you think those pre-drilled holes can be useful? I can simply reduce the plugs...those look to be 1/2 or a little bigger....with a bushing, I can get it to 1/4 and slap two nozzels in those if they are in a decent place...

I am going to have the intake pwoder coated after a good sand blasting or bead blasting...whatever those guys do!!! My bro wants the intake to match his car, so he is going with a light maroon color powder coating. I think it will look sweet. His car is shooting for high 12's and best in show, so he wants it to be shiney and pretty!!!! lol

Anyway....I thought you would like to see your handiwork!

I purchased it from turboclam3 on this site at this post: http://www.turbobuick.com/forums/showthread.php?s=&threadid=155626

Really really great guy....

"The EGR is hard blocked. The excess can be smoothed down. The runners are smoothed and ported out as far as you can see in. I bought this car from a friend and he got the parts from Lee."

Awesome work and I cant wait to get it running!!!!! YAY!!!!

John

?

For the alky, will you be using Aquamist nozzles? I believe the current holes are to high. I can help you out if Auamist nozzles will be used.

...before you sandblast that intake.....put a bolt in any tapped hole on the intake...it'll save you some headaches when it comes time to put it all together, the blasting media will wreak havoc on those alum. threads....good luck

Thanks big daddy!

Lee, I am unsure what nozzels to use to begin with!!! lol...I dont really know much about the set-up on a hot air for alky, so i will leave it to you (THE professional!)

THe holes that are on there will be fine as they are right? (Plugged)....I should have any prob with them popping out or anything? I dont think my bro is going over 20 psi, ever....

We are looking for a TA48 or 33c for the turbo, so it is a direct bolt on, and we wont have to mock anything up like I will have to on my car. Keep in tough Lee! Email me if you wanna get a plan for my bro!

Racemybuick@yahoo.com

Thanks for all the help and info!!!

John

Auqa mist are the only way to go and there's a source you can contact for this.

where so I buy???? lol. With my intake in it's final stages before installation, I want to drill it and install the nozzels. Where do I get the nozzels, and where is the best place to install the nozzels? I do not want to go into multiple stages if I can avoid it. I am not too fast with the whole learning curve when it comes to eletrical wiring and all of that....lol...even with a diploma, I am still a little slow with regards to that tricky stuff....

I do, however, want to hit 11's on the roller set-up, and if one or two nozzels will do the trick, I am all for it!

Lee or Jamie, got any pics of your intake with the nozzels installed?

Thank you so much!!!
