Cruise at 55... 4th gear seems to happen at 52-53 MPH, and it shifts fine.

Issue is the hunting between 3rd and 4th until I'm at 60-65... I really dont want to be driving THAT fast here in Hawaii... (Speeding Campaign) at least for another month.

am I looking at a TV cable misadjustment?

Vehicle is basically stock, excepting bolt-ons (DP, Chip, Exhaust, no cat, Cone filter)

You're cruising right at the shift threshold. I would just shift down to 3 until you're at a section of road where it will stay in 4th better. Lowering TV pressure (cable adjustment) can lower your line pressure to a damaging level.

Thanks Donnie. I dont remember my HotAir car doing that, but then again, I was prone to driving faster back in those days...

3rd it is... my entire drive home from work is up a grade with the speed limit at 55, until the last 3-4 miles which is flat land. *mental note*

A slight grade is the perfect situation to cause hunting.

loosening the adjustment to get an earlier o/d shift and reduce 4/3 3/4 hunting (the results of slightly higher modulated tv up and down pressure) just enough to get it working right should not cause trans failure resulting from lower line pressure if the hydraulics are working correctly. just make sure you get a WOT 2/1 kickdown at 15 mph IN 2ND.this will verify max tv is reached at wot.also the vbody goes to full tvpressure at 90% pull in mostly every situation when adjusted correctly .if all of the shifts arent late except for the 3/4 and its indecision remove one coil from the 3/4 spring and road test .it should be working perfectly then.if all the ratio changes are late suspect an over adjusted cable or sticking tv valve.

Donnie and CHris, thanks for your input.

The Trans is 100% stock, AFAIK, and has 115K it is the correct BRF trans and works fine otherwise.

I brought my cruise speed up to 60 on the way home this morning and it stayed in 4th during the whole climb.

I suppose I just cant drive it like the old man car it is...

After driving it today, it appears as though it may the TCC unlocking, and locking... the difference in RPM is ~200RPM.. maybe one of those TCC manual overide switches is the solution?
