Looking for a nice Lightning Rod setup for an OD trans. Condition unimportant as long as its in REBUILDABLE shape and all the hard parts are there.

I'm going to rebuild whatever I buy and rechrome the handles, etc. So if someone has one that needs restoration, this would be a perfect time to sell!

I have one that has nice sticks but the balls are chipped, the chrome thumb levers are worn where they slide and the piece that moves up and down with the left stick is a little sticky. It probably just needs to be disassembled, cleaned up and re-greased. I had it in my car and it worked it was just that detent piece that I mentioned was slow to actuate. I was asking $385 shipped on an Olds board I frequent if you're interested,

Just an update and perhaps a few words of wisdom for all those looking for a similar setup:

I had several PM's from members here and on other sites once I posted what I was looking for. 99% of them have absolute JUNK for sale. One guy from here has what he said was a nice set, but for the price he wanted ($1000 with a $150 GN console), it was a ripoff.

Of course, everyone that PM'd me claimed that these were rare (except on any given week you can find them for sale on e-bay, most weeks at least a couple of them at a time), and so desireable that their prices was fairer than fair and that I wouldn't find a better deal anywhere. Most seller even had the audacity to be firm with their prices. And when I say they had junk for sale, I mean stuff that's ready for the scrap yard. Which is, of course, why they still have them for sale.

So a little more digging netted me this:

I just bought an almost NOS shifter, removed from a H/O in the mid 80's under warranty, for $500. And a defect free GM console for $150 shipped to me.

Keep your heads up and don't fall for the BS that people spew when they have something they know you want. You'll find what you're looking for and at a price that's reasonable to boot! A recession is on and people aren't spending what they were 2 or 3 years ago. Don't let the con men fool you!

If anyone requires proof of what I purchased, just shoot me a PM with your e-mail address and I'll send you out a couple pics. They're too big to post here.

Peace!

A while back you would see them on Ebay go for over $1000. especially the 4 speed units. But lately they seem to be in the $500. range. I paid $500.+ for a 3 handle, 4 speed unit in Great shape With a GN console top plate. I recently got a 4 handle, 4 speed unit with no top plate for $600. I had never seen a 4 handle unit before and I always aim to be different. By the way, if anyone has a set of instructions for a 4 handle unit please let me know.

Wow! I didn't know there was a 4 handle unit either. Mine is a three handle OD shifter. I can't believe the condition its in.

Sounds like the four handle might be more trouble than its worth as far as fitting it in a console though. Can't imagine anyone makes top plates or other parts for them.

Yes it will be a major project, IF it will fit in the console. But hey, I Love a Challenge

Wow nice find. I haven't seen a 4 handle in many years. So I guess your three handle is up for sale.
