In the picture below you will see the familiar TPS sensor and the blade that rests upon a small tubular piece of metal (like a tiny straw with a slit down the side). Apparently this piece of metal is called a tension spring (even though it really isn't a spring in the regualr sense.)

The specs for this tension spring is 1 1/4" long x 3/32". I went to ACE and Lowes and found the right ones but only 1" and not 1.25" Anyway, can anyone tell me where I can find one of these stupid things?

It should be a standard roll pin. Pretty common part any place should have it. You should be able to find some at a auto parts store. They might be too long but just cut it down to make it fit.

HTH.

"any place should have it" ??? I went to Ace, Lowes, Autozone, and Napa and no one had what I needed. Any other ideas?

I'ts a split roll pin or I've heard them called hollow roll pins also. Measure it with a micrometer to...Hold on I'm gonna get some info out of the garage and will post back in a few mins. Jon Hanson

I know its a roll pin. But its longer than the standard pin. I broke one once. I ended up geting another tb to solve my issue. Sorry.

Youre in San Diego right?? Check out Marshalls Industrial Hardware on Production Ave right off Miramar Rd. This place puts Home depot and Lowes to shame if you're looking for hardware and odd parts. They might have that size rollpin.

It's 3/32"diaX 1 1/16"long. I just called OReiley auto parts and if you get the assortement box of roll pins PN 13850 by Dorman it cost $3.59 The roll pins in the box are only 1" but that should not be a problem. HTH Good Luck Jon Hanson

Mine was 1.25 (?) Anyway, I found the 1" one at ACE but thought that since it needed to go to through the hole and stick out the back, I'd need the longer one.

I suppose I can try the 1" one. BTW, thanks to all who commneted. I'll try and find the place that Jolly mentioned as well.

Thanks again.

as long as it hits the arm on the sensor and doesn't interfere with the travel of the throttle, i wouldn't think it would really matter how long it is.

You've never seen a roll pin before? And you still think your cars faster than mine? Funny! But yeah Autozone and pretty much any auto store has them. Your starting to scare me dude!

Check at Autozone. Its in the "Help, Im lost" section next to the muffler bearings and blinker fluid.
