My friends Jason and Chris had the Camaro product manager and the shows and exibits manager meet up at our office yesterday with 2 new Camaros the V8 SS and the V6 version. They went out for a fairly extensive drive and when they got back they we kind enough to call me to come over for a look see. Scott tossed me the key to the SS and said "take it for a spin" I wasted no time. Now I have owned quite a few of the "new" musclecars (SRT8, GTO, Vette, G8GT which is my sons) and driven the rest, Challanger and a few different Fords, to be honest except for the Vette the new Camaro simply blows them away. I was not expecting much from this car after having the GTO and the G8 but it is like it is from another planet. Quiet, comforatable, drivable and fast too. Not as fast as my Vette but way faster than my SRT8 or the Challanger for sure. It is as quite as my Escalade when driving and handles very well too. I was dead wrong about this car and it is everything that it should be and more. I am so impressed that when the convert comes out Marianne only has to pick her color and she will get one. Pictures, videos and more details are here : CamaroZ28.Com First Road Test of 2010 Camaro SS and Camaro LT

Scott & Cheryl Thanks for the invite!

They will be ripping it up alright. The V6 stick shift cars are no joke they have 305 HP and run very well faster than the old LT1 V8 cars IMO

That's awesome...thanks for the real-world feedback.

How long until you develop a turbo kit for the V6? :)

Mike

Did they just get there from the Auto show in Toronto are was it 2 different cars.

I sat in the SS and the V6 Car in Toronto Sat. at the Show. Very Very impressed.

That v6 is awesome... I'd bet a serious Turbo engine could be built from that....:p

Mike, any talk of ressurecting the ZL-1? Sure we be cool to see an LS-7 under the hood of one of these.

these were not show cars or prototypes they were cars off the real assembly line a few cars have been run for evaluation. These were two of those cars so they are what you will get when you go to the showroom. That V6 car with a turbo is very interesting.......

Awww Mike, I was all excited about my new G8 GT and look what you've done;)

Mike, you lucky dog. I was thinking about ordering one but I like to wait til 2011. Let them get the bugs worked out. ;) O ya and I never buy brand new cars. Let someone else take the hit on driving off the lot. ;)

You should be excited my kid has one and it a GREAT car in my book. It made my GTO look like a piece of poo
Mike

Just yanking your chain Mike. I really needed a car that can seat 4 people comfortably and from what I heard the new camero wasn't as comfortable in the back.

Thanks!

If you want to see one with an LS7 pick up the April issue of GMHTP they've got a write-up on the one they did. It is unbelieveable and a beautiful car. The TR's have been my dream cars for awhile now and I've always liked the V6 power plant but the Ls7 Camaro in that mag is hard to resist

Cool deal Mike, thanks for sharing.
These things with just a cam change will be crazy.
What does the butt dyno give you ET wise on the SS?

G8Gt vs SS Camaro

Hey Mike, how does the SS compare to the G8GT. I was thinking of possibly getting an SS until I saw pics of the gauges. Do they look that bad in person as on the internet? How much faster is the ls3 Camaro than the regular G8GT. I really like the looks of the big Pontiac.

Not to speak for Mike, but I'd image the Camaro SS would be faster than the G8 GT. A better comparison would probably be the G8 GXP vs Camaro SS. Both have the LS3 engines, but the Camaro SS is probably a little lighter.

There's also the debate going on that if you put the money you saved between the price of a G8 GT vs a G8 GXP, you could mod the G8 GT to make it faster than a G8 GXP.

Since my son has an 09 G8-GT and I have driven both I would have to say that the SS is a good bit faster than the G8. I would estimate the SS to be a solid 12.6-12.8 car right out of the box, with some tires and a good driver maybe much faster. Actually I found the gauges to look great in person, I hated them in the pictures too.

esome bud thanx for the post. Just a low psi blower long tubes and full exhaust will be a nasty machine.

Thanks. When that thing hits the lot I'll take one for a spin. The g8gt is one sweet car even if it "only" has 360 hp.
