i wonder how many threads have this title? So, I decide to pull the plugs and knock the gap down to .028 from .032. I felt something at the track last week, and it dawned on me that the spark might be blowing out. So I take the car out when I'm done. The first time I get into, I get a backfire and pop. Do it again laying into harder, same thing happens and the up pipe blows off!!! Pull over and fix that, give everything a visual. Take it back out, try again, same shit. I end up putting a small hole in the up pipe to tb hose in the process!!! Time to waste more of my life that I'll never get back chasing yet another problem. I am just about done with this piece of shit!!

I feel your pain. My car has been on the tow truck 10 times in the last 2 years and it's stored 7 months out of the year. Hang tough. Too deep to give up now. Good luck.

sucks! But be patient ive blown the upipipe off numerous amounts of times..at least you dont have to go in the motor for a spun rod bearing or 1k other more expensive reasons, seems like youve had fun with it though 11.2 @ 121 so i know you dont baby it, give her some lovin, if not someone else will ;)
these buicks to me seem like a crazy party girl that has wild sex you love her and do crazy things with her but when she's not around anymore you think about her like crazy and you want her back!

Put her away for a couple of day's and then hit it again. You'll feel better.

just getting really tired of only getting 10 or so passes before SOMETHING goes wrong....just want to get the phuck in it and DRIVE it sometimes....

You must be too lean, have wires crossed, or a faulty sensor. Don't think going wide open throttle repeatedly will fix it.

Remeber its a HOBBY...keep your head up....we are here to back you up.....clean up pipe with soap...greasy pipes slide off..

none of the above....been a tech for 25 years and know wot won't fix it.......

"Don't think going wide open throttle repeatedly will fix it. ".......:D

Data logs?

don't have a data logger....just have to dig back in and take a look...probably cracked a plug or deteriorated wire terminal...

ive run 34# boost and never had a pipe blow off????? How much boost are you guys pushing to be blowing off intake pipes???
BTW that includes a Turbo that filled my Intercooler with about a quart or oil in 2-3 weeks timeo_O

You've been a tech for 25 years..... have one of these tempermental women.... and you don't have a datalogger?

The definition of insanity is doing the same thing over and over..... and expecting a different outcome.

Seriously, troubleshooting one of these cars is 10x easier with a $265 powerlogger.

Come on guys, he's not blowing the pipe off because he's running too much boost or has bad clamps. He's getting a misfire and it's pressurizing the intake from the explosion. The only thing I've ever seen do this is a bad coil.

i don't have a $265 data logger because of the $10 k i've put out in the last 2 years in engine/trans parts.....guys, read the post.....had plugs out, then back in.....backfiring now, blowing up pipe off.....car was running pretty good before.....just slight spit at end of track.......

Mass air flow, ignition module, coil pack, map sensor line cracked. Could be many things. If my car popped once I'd be under the Hood. You do need to be able to get some data. Guessing is expensive and time consuming.

I agree with jasjamz. It could be lots of things..... I'll add beginning to wipe a cam lobe in the mix.

I would think it is more likely a weak ignition coil....like someone else said.

If you spend $265 on parts you don't need, you just paid for the PL. It is not just a troubleshooting tool..... it is a tuning tool. If you race this car, how do you tune it? You have a low 11 sec car..... you are making enough power to really need a tuning tool anyway.

I'm not trying to be a peckerhead..... just a voice of reason.

Sell the progmatic old heap.. Get a new Mustang , Camaro, or Challenger and enjoy life :D

ive blown them off all the time for no special reason, put a new clamp and or hose and call it a day, runs fine after.. as a matter of fact i need to buy some new hoses, ive been using some old ones for a while that i bought @ home depot rubber B.S...... and ive noticed i only have luck with regular clamps, when i use the nice turbo clamps with the nut that you screw on i blow the hoses off pretty fast just not enough clamping on those i guess? i only have luck with cheap regular clamps thats what has been holding....my car runs fine im driving it today and i drove it yesterday, i step on it she moves great.... i have pl scanmaster and im always looking at my afr.. never had a misfire burp or fart just cheap ass hoses and alot of boost
