Long story short I got the turbo all bolted up and ready to go, so start time she fires right up but I've got oil pissing out of the oil drain tube, ok thought I messed up the gasket? Nope I left a piece of f**king rag in the tube so nothing would fall into it, ok gaskets fine bolt it all together now I've got smoke coming out of the tails,. I popped off the d/p and sure enough oil everywhere, so it's possible the almost minute it ran it blew out the seals in the turbo that fast??.....thanks in advance Mike

Just get the oil wiped out/burnt out and it should be fine. The restriction just backed up the oil in the turbo. It had to go somewhere..'

You can't blow the sealing ring in the turbo. It's a steel ring. You probably pumped a quart of oil into the exhaust. Once it burns out you will be ok. You can take the turbo off remove the ex housing and rinse around the heat shield and remove most of the oil from the turbo but there's still a lot in the exhaust

I've had it running now for about 15-20min and it's still smoking a bit, I haven't taken it for a ride yet, not too sure I should..Mike

Drive it. Too bad the mosquitos aren't out yet, you could knock off a few.

Pronto I think I have LOL , she seems good I just took her for 15min drive, and there's no more burnt oil out the tails..Mike

Years ago on my first GN I switched turbos and when my friend put the new turbo on there was a foam packaging peanut stuck in it and the same thing as yours, oil just poured out of it. I just let it run and burnt the oil out of the exhaust. It did take a little while. If I remember it was a few days until it was gone, but fortunately everything was okay.

Yep I had a bit of anxiety that night, took if for a good ride the next morning and all seemed fine, boost set @ 16lbs with a little fuel added as the battery was stone dead ran awesome with no knock, so I'm happy this year...So far LOL, thanks again guys!!!....Mike

Heck!
I'm thinking that this might be a great way to keep your exhaust from rusting out. What type of rag did you say you used? :D
