I recently purchased an 87 GN that had some extra mods, but nothing too heavy duty. They are listed below.

- New 4 core radiator, water pump, 160 thermostat.
- TE44 turbo and silicon intercooler hoses
- Walbro 307 pump with Caspers hotwire kit
- Adjustable Fuel Pressure Regulator with rail mounted guage
- 40lbs "red stripe" injectors
- Full stainless ATR 2.5 exhaust complete with stainless test pipe
- Mark Huffman Big Mouth Cold Air induction kit
- Jay Carter 93 chip

It is pretty quick as is, but would like to get some more quickness out of it without spending too much right away. Could you guys offer up your suggestions? I don't want to beat any 1/4 mile speeds, but would like to take a Cobra or new Vette on at a stoplight and win. If you know what I mean.

Define "too much". Alcohol injection is a great performance enhancer and cost about $400.

You should be able to get 12s out of that combo with racegas and a chip. That beats most Vettes and Cobras :D

Im gonna have to say, a 44 is quite a jump over stock. Im surprised your face doesnt light up when you hit the gas.

Id think you should be able to give those cars you mentioned a challenge as is. Hopefully its tuned well, a better idea would be to get a timeslip and know what you are dealing with.

A good tune can do wonders, and I agree about the alky kit, 24psi on the street should get you smil'n.

I got a 12.9 with the stock turbo and 17psi. I had race gas but didnt even need it. :D

What's funny is that it came with an Alcohol kit, it is installed, but not tuned or running. I wasn't going to mess with it because I want this car to last and am afraid of toasting the engine. The guy who had it before me was a GM Certified Mechanic, it has just over 100k and runs like new.

It was suggested to me to get a better intercooler and up the boost. But the good FM Intercoolers I have seen are over $1100, and wasn't sure that would give me what I was looking for, which is bang for the buck.

If you don't have one already, get a scan tool. Tune the car to run as much boost as you can without knock. The difference between a good tune and a bad tune can be over 1 second in the 1/4. Also, a bad tune can hurt your motor.

Get that alky kit workin! Best bang for the buck hands down!
24 p.s.i on 91oct.....cant beat it!

If you want a bang for the buck IC,the powerstroke wins hands down and itll grow with your car as your need for speed increases.Do a search under powerstroke,LOTS of info :)

I also have a powerstroke IC with piping, hoses, and clamps for sale if your intereted PM me;)

Have you had the valve springs done yet? With over 100K miles they need to be done if not. That would help alot.

It's funny you say that about the valve springs. The previous owner said that I should get those done in the near future. But can you explain to me how that helps out my HP?

The valve springs will help you out on the upper end. with weak valve springs, the car wont pull hard after a certain rpm range, depending on how bad they are. my 1/4 times were suffering because of this. when i replaced my springs, i got an extra .4 in the quarter and a few extra mph

HMMMNN??

The words "speed" and "cheap", all in the same statement..??
