I spoke with Connie, who is one of the co-owners, a few minutes ago. She informed me that her employees use alias names. She also informed me that her customer service dept. does not need product knowledge to do thier job. Furthmore, she kept interupting me and talking over me.

I think all they care about is selling you tires. Have a covered claim . . . . buy another tire 1st then they'll determine if the tire is covered. So IMHO they have effectively eliminated any accountability on their part. I will never ever do business with tirerack again! Connie showed me management's bad attitude towards this customer.

P.S. I had given them around $5,000 of my hard earned cash for a set of rims and tires and feel like I just got a swift kick in the pants!

5K! YIKES. If I were spending that much I think I'd deal with someone closeby.

Not many options when it comes to the E320. Especially 19's with 245/35/r19's :( locally it would have been closer to 8k

In Phoenix Arizona you couldn't find someone local that could take care of that????

Geez fellows...give the guy a break. All he did was try and buy some wheels and tires from a well known company.

....talk about rubbing salt in the wound....

Dude, I was the heretic, the leper when I talked about Tirerack. I'll make the story short: bought BFG 275/50/15 tires, mounted them, put the car in the driveway for the winter. In the Spring, notice a big bubble on the side.

Call Tirerack: "Hey, I think I have a defective tire".
Tirerack reply: "No, it's damaged by road use and we don't warranty road hazard".
Me: "But I didn't drive the car and it's the sidewall, not the tread".
Tirerack: "Sorry, goodbye".

So I call BFG directly and they take care of the problem right away. I call back Tirerack just to let them know that BFG took care of the problem and it wasn't road hazard damage. I get a supervisor/manager this time: "Sorry we couldn't help you".
Me: "you COULD have helped me but you choose to not even listen, so I will NEVER buy ANYTHING from you again, and I'll be sure to tell everyone I know".

Unfortunately that doesn't mean sh*t in American business today because they don't care about the consumer. Losing a customer is meaningless these days.

yea untill the customer base is so small from screwing people that they cannot stay afloat.

Guys...no offense but situations like this make me chuckle....

Why do you deal with a MAIL order company for tires in the first place??? Why I will tell you why...because you shop based on price. They are the cheapest so you purchase them from them...when you could buy the same thing locally for a few bucks more and be able to speak with someone face to face if you have a problem. If you shop solely on price then you get what you pay for....and sometimes that is piss poor customer service. I would say shop locally next time.

No flames intended...just an opinion.

My choices for rims outside of AMG are about nil. No offense intended BlownZ, but If you had a Benz you would know that. You would also know that whether your driving a new model or a 20 year old benz nothing is cheap about these cars. Therefore I had to have tirerack get the Carlssons shipped over from Germany. Plus tirerack sponsers the tires/suspension chat room on the mercedes board. They advised me on the best handling combo. So in return I was trying to patronize one of the supporters of the Benz club.

Like I said...they were cheaper.....their service sucks...you got screwed. I don't see where we disagree. Mercedes parts are ridiculously overpriced? Who would have guessed....I am glad you told me.

Dude what's your problem? I owe you no explanation, you don't own a GN and your Trolling. Why are you trying to act like your superior than the rest of us?

You say no offense then you judge my desicision, laugh at me, with no experience with either Mercedes or Tirerack! Also you seem to be the only one with that superior view point expressed in this thread. You've been no help with those comments.

Buicks GS: going fast with class! learn it, love it, live it! I support those that support me, it's called loyalty and reciprocation.

Evidently we have crossed wires here....I wasn't trying to make fun of you or act superior, I simply have a low opinion of mail order warehouses...this kind of thing happens all the time...in fact there is another post somewhere on here that is recent about Tire Rack and their crappy service.

My comments about Tire Rack were intended as a slam at Tire Rack...not at you....however if you took them that way then I am sorry. My comments about shopping on price were again intended as a broad statement about the American consumer as well...not directed at you. I stated in my post it wasn't meant as a flame however you took it that way so again I am sorry.

Good Luck with your car.

Cool, my ego is as big as all the outdoors sometimes and I'm off my medication  soon they'll come with my white sleeveless motorcycle jacket.

Sorry for the misunderstanding.

>Why do you deal with a MAIL order company for tires in the first >place??? Why I will tell you why...because you shop based on >price.

Not always true. I agree with you, but in the case I got stiffed, I went to my local tire places who I dealt with for years and they didn't have what I wanted.... Ironically, they ended up ordering the same tires and fixing the problem for BFG where TiredRack wouldn't even answer the phone.

Just one thing I want to mention... not to defend Tirerack at all. But almost all companies allow aliases over the phone. The reason why is unfortunately phone sales really get the crazies to come out and employees would prefer in some cases to protect their privacy. Some places reauire that you use an alias (like Summit, I know a guy who works there) if theres someone else that has the same name as you. I personally use my real name, but I can see why (especailly if youre a woman) you might consider using an alias.

Not a flame just an explanation...

The rest of this stuff is crap, I personally never had a problem with them, but im shocked by that.

I've looked at tires online, but there is a family tire business in my town where I can get virtually ANY brand of tire (but especially Michelin/BFG) tire mounted, balanced and installed for less than the list prices on Tirerack et.al. They are located about 15 miles south of Worcester, MA -- Crother's Tire. Also give GREAT deals on most wheels except Weld. I always try to buy local when possible.

One comment on companies that allow the use of an alias.......

I teach sales and marketing to high ticket retail sales people. The use of an alias name is not advisable. Right up front you are sending the message that you are a liar. If you can't even tell the truth about what your name is, what does that tell the consumer? It is permissable to not mention a last name or a direct number for privacy purposes. It's all in presenting the proper image to the customer. If you can't do that, someone else will.
