Carl, the roller set up is Webbers, sans the valve springs. Springs were Kryo'd pieces from Richard Lasseter. Brian

Are you running a PTE turbo-saver?

Red Regal T. yes, and the turbo also has a filter.

I'd advise you to remove the turbo saver. I lost four sets of main bearing, blowing the bearing material right off the face of the bottom half of the thrust bearing into my pan. Big copper chips. Everytime I would beat up on my freshened motor this would happen. I didn't know what the problem was. I kept replacing the main bearings. For unrelated reasons, I wanted to put my turbo-luber device on the car........ I liked the compact nature of it over the turbo-saver. Unknowingly, I fixed my problems. Went to the track the following Sunday and made 10 passes. No more bearing damage with the only change being.........REMOVING THE TURBO-SAVER.

I lost four sets of main bearing, blowing the bearing material right off the face of the bottom half of the thrust bearing into my pan because of oil starvation. Big copper chips. I am running the turbo saver on this build, but not on the others. I fail to see the relationship between remotely mounting an oil filter, and damaging the thrust bearing. I did not see a noticable increase/decrease in oil pressure. What is your reasoning for not using the PTE oil filter relocation kit. Not saying this couldn't have caused a problem, but untill the pan comes off, I don't know if I even have bearing problems. Thanks, Brian

Well, I assumed you had the saver on with your other problem builds. For me, it caused oil starvation to my mains on a fresh build. Of course, it lowered my oil pressure substantially after the damage occured. When I mentioned the damaged thrust bearing, I was talking about the face of it, not the sides. All I know is it happened 4 times, and when I removed it, it didn't happen again. Obviously, if it happened to me, it can happen to others.

John,
What caused the oil starvation you experienced in regards to the turbo saver? I use them religiously and have never had any issues. Maybe it was the type or brand of filter you used. I use system one stuff on the serious cars as you can disassemble them for inspection. I have seen an increase in pressure by a couple pounds when using it in conjunction with a System1. Just wondering in the event I am overlooking something.
Thanks

Bill, I don't know what the problem was, really. All I know is I took it off only because I favored my smaller turbo-luber for protecting my turbo, and with not any other change, the destruction of my mains problem went away. :D

This was after four sets of main bearings in a few thousand miles. A few WOT blasts would do the damage. I've used and raced the car for the past 20,000 miles without a re-occurance. I was using a delco 1218 with the turbo saver. I know many guys use them. I guess they don't have problems, then, on the other hand, if a problem occured, who would suspect a remote oiler as a problem. For whatever reason, it was for me.
