I have an 87 buick Gn. However my question does not include the gn. It does include my 30k org. mile 78 chevy Malibu. I am wanting to run a "pro touring " type car lowered, handling suspension, baer brakes, 17" torque thrusts etc .etc. However i do want to run a big block chevy(so much for handling?) I want to run a overdrive trans either a 200 or 700 r4 . I really don't think i will need the 3.06 first with the bbc's torque, and i really don't like the increased rpm drop between gear changes and i like the slightly higher o.d. of the 200 r4. My question is i want a o.d. trans that will easily handle650- 700 hp and around 650ft. lbs or more of tq. this car will be a driver. which is better the 700 r4 or the 200r4. Are there anyone with any opinions on Art Carr's 200 r4's??? They sang me a pretty song of total reliability at that power level????? I know there are trans builders in this forum,,, I just want some real world experiences with comparisons of these 2 trans and who are good,,, reputable builders?????? thanks alot

torque is what breaks parts..

there are plenty of us that make more toque than your n/a bb will and still run 2004r trannies and if its touring car it probly wont have the best of traction

I understand the power the turbo 6's are making However there will def. be a few times a year that i will want to bolt on a set of slicks and get the car to hook?? I hope that wouldn't be the limiting factor of running a 200 r 4?

go to www.ckperformance.com .just look at the cars on the home page .yellow gn 9.80s w/2004r.this vehicle definately has similar torque or more than your bb chevy and is drop dead reliable .the trick is our 2.32 and 2.52 first gear ratios.we also have 3 different o/drive ratios besides the stock one ,available in special order transmissions.we are definately dedicated to the sb/bb chevy motors.
