I have a Pte 220/220 Billet roller cam and need some instructions
on the install. Where does the bearing holder, Thrust bearing go on at what point? Does it go Thrust bearing then bearing holder and then drive gear and then cam button?

Hey man, need some more 83's? I bought another setup like a sold you and will be going back to the ME land again! My Ruggles was similar. The brass plate will go behind the cam face as you slide it in, then an aluminum spacer if you have one, then chain gear, then cam sensor gear, then cam button. Someone correct me if I am wrong. This is how my setup went.

Just finished mine last week.

Goes:
bearing
bearing holder/plate
eccentric/spacer
gear
washer
bolt

I think.....

But, the bearing goes first..... that's for sure.

Jesse,

Makes u wish u didn't sell your 83lbs and maxeffort;)
I noticed u bought some 83's and max off the turbobuick board:D

These parts are expensive I got 4 small cam parts for $250:eek:

Thanks guys alot :) :D  ;)

Intercooler,
You selling 83's???? I have a need for ONE 83 injector to replace a very loud ticking injector I have now. (see my ad in the parts wanted section).

Whitettype86,
Wish I could help with your problem, but I have the ATR roller. It doesn't quite sound like the same setup. I just have a thrust washer between cam nose and block, then the chain gear, then spacer, then cam sensor drive gear, and the front cover thrust bearing.

tazgn, Thats ok I think I got it.

It goes

Bearing(thats the ring that has the needle bearings)

Bearing holder(The ring that connects to the needle bearing ring)

eccentric/spacer (Big thick black metal piece)

Cam gear( looks like a sprocket);)

Big washer

five thin little washers

Nut

needle bearing

Button

Does this sound right?

I loved the Max-Effort, no doubt. I didn't like the 83's (actually 86) for the street though. My idle was high and with a double pumper that is just a ton of fuel for a production motor. The 65's should compromise me to where I want to be. I paid $250.00 for the little pieces you speak of to get my Ruggles roller in. And yes, pricey to say the least!

Jesse,

Ya can't wait to get this car going. I figured I'll need the 83lbs due to the 4.1 and Te45. I have to send the maxeffort off to steve to get it reprogrammed for my translater and Ls1 maf.
I'll be e-mailing u on this maxeffort or calling u to understand it alittle more. I got one more thing to get to get this car going is,
I need to choice which tranmission I want to go with? Either I
billet extreme 200r4 0r a full race Turbo 400. :)

Thanks For the replys guys.

cam

Look at the eccentric / spacer. It goes a certain way or your cam sensor gear will interfer with it. Also I assume you know that you have to set end play.---.005-.008

Lee,

What way does the eccentric/spacer go?
No I don't no about setting the end play:confused: What I'm I looking for?

cam

I/ll try to word this best I can. If you look at the spacer, one side has less material than the other. This removed material is to allow for the 2 gears to mesh. Better yet, slip the pieces on the end of cam, then hold cam sensor up against it as it will be when installed. As far as setting end play ( how far cam can move front to back in block ) you have to assemble all the pieces in the block ( minus the shims ) install the front cover and torque to specs. Let set for a few hours as new gasket will compress ( I used a new felpro gasket and let sit over night---.005 difference.) I used a magnetic dial indicator mounted to back of block and touching rear of cam, carefully, with a large screwdriver, go down thru lifter bore and move cam far rear and far front. Get your reading , then shim to .005 end play
Best of luck to You

?

BTW, I/m curious as to how much boost you plan on running. This is a production 4.1, right? How is the cam install going?

Lee,

I'm planning using 22-25lbs boost on this motor.

Thats correct this is a production 84 casting 4.1 block:eek:

This motor has all the goodies u can see by my signature:D

The cam is going in in the next couple of days need to pick up my
timing chain From Nick Micale and this motor button up.:D

Advance,Straight up or de-advance timing

Now the Question is How should I set the timing on the Cam?

Advance, Straight Up, or De-advance?;)
