Bought the Intrepid dual fan/harness set up from G Body. Looking for some tips/advice on how to instal.

Tabs on side stay on or off? Will it fit with PTE's stock location intercooler? Any free advice to minimize re-work is appreciated.
Lasty, best way to flush radiator and doe the RMI live up to it's claims (ie use just water and RMI)?

Cut the tabs off and add some sort of protection between the plastic and the core. I had them rub through on mine years back. It will "pop" in between the tanks.
Back flush system as well as heater core
Take a close look at your core of teh radiator if there is any crud on the flue inside get a new radiator or get that one serviced.
RMI works just cant leave it in there for years it does clean up stuff and need to be drained and refilled after a bit...each system is different ...dirtyness, etc. Typically you will see funk in the over flow and around the cap that its removing.

Cant say if it will fit the PTE SLIC

I remove the tabs on the side. I directly hard wired it to the fan wires no harness clip. Ran the ground to the inner fender. They have been working flawlessly!!

Take off the stock lower fan bracket and attach it to the new fan. Trim a little bit of the sides so it does not cause pressure to the tanks and it will seal flush to the radiator. Hope this helps

To flush the radiator. Pul the radiator Pick up some murodic acid from a pool store. Poor it in let it sit a few min flush and repete a few times.

Here's some pics on how I mounted my Ramcharger "Dual Fans" with my PTE SLIC.

Have since gotten all the brackets powdercoated black.

I used an old trunk weatherstrip moulding around the perimeter of the fan so it sealed & did not rub unnecessarily against the radiator.
Don't forget to install Capers or Racetronix dual fan relays.

Been working good for 5 going on 6 trouble free years . Opps (touch wood). Hope I haven't jinxed myself now! LOL

There used to be installation instructions on GBody Parts website.

I did similar. For the lower brackets I used battery hold down clips.

Dave, I assume weatherstripping is sold at an auto parts store and confirm you put it on 3 or 4 sides of the fan set up? Pronto, what are the battery hold down clips?

John, do NOT put acid in your radiator, as you WILL be replacing it after the solder joints are damaged, some residual acid will remain.

RMI-25 will clean the cooling system without any caustic or corrosive additives.

This has been proven in over 20 years of use in Buicks and many other vehicles including heavy equipment.

There is a process to follow when using RMI in older vehicles, as we have many 25 year old turbo Buicks with original radiators and heater cores that have demonstrated that RMI is the best cooling system additive available.

The clamps for base retained batterys. They are offset clamps and are usually rubber coated.

I've been using pool acid for over 20 years with not one issue. Eagle one has a wheel cleaner for rough casting wheels. ( like the t wheels ) its the same identical chemical.

Weatherstrip goes completely around the entire (all 4 sides) of the fan on mine. Just snaps into the groove of the w'strip. You can find this used at any wreckers....just grab it off the trunk opening which is easy to access. Since I was replacing my trunk w'strip...I re-uesed the old one. LOL
Good idea to put in some RMI25 too. I run it in mine with anti-freeze & it not only helps keep it running cooler, but keeps it clean too!

I don't want to derail this thread but I want to be very clear on this. Please don't ever do this with an aluminum radiator. yes this is something that was done in shops back in the day to clean copper/brass radiators. If any of the acid stays in there it will continue to eat away at the material so a lot of caution should be used if doing this. Not something you want to dump down the sewer either...

Again, please do not ever put muriatic acid in an aluminum radiator.

Thanks fellas for the input. I'll let you know how it turns out. Got some help from spool fool also.

I just installed my dual fans Friday evening. I cut off those 4 tabs, and it fits extremely snug. I actually had a bit of time getting it to snap in there. Initially, I was annoyed by this, but then realized if it was this difficult to get it in there, it should be just as difficult for it to come out. Lol. I didn't have any room for any weatherstripping or anything of that nature. Good luck

Is the weatherstripping only need if you are using Intrepid dual fans cause my car came with dual spals setup from the previous owner and I don't see any weatherstripping on there. Is this something I should worry about?

I am not familiar with the SPAL fan set up so cannot comment on it.
The reason I installed the weather strip was 1) to seal the area (footprint) of the fan housing to the rad.....making sure no air is being pulled through cracks / gaps, which would ensure that 100% of the fans efforts ended up pulling air thru the radiator which (in theory) would aid in cooling efficiency & 2) prevent rubbing / chaffing between the housing & radiator fins which is not a good thing.

Just drove my car for the first time after install of the fans. I am beyond impressed. It was humid and 93 today in Saint Louis, and the temp peeked at 181, and leveled out at 175 the whole drive home. Mix of highway and stop and go.
