Is it absolutely necessary to have an overflow bottle?

Reason I ask is because I mounted my Casper's battery positive terminal box right in the middle of where the coolant bottle used to be. I have alot of wiring going to that terminal box and there was no other spot for me to mount it. Can't I just eliminate the coolant bottle all-together? If I need to have it...where could I relocate it to? I can't seem to find a suitable spot for it. I read some guys are using aftermarket overflow bottles mounted on the radiator support up front.

nhra requires min 1 qt overflow ,

razor alky users use a smaller overflow since we use the stock tank for alky , might want to check on the alky forum for locations and tanks others have used

i use my overflow bottle for my alky. then i use my windshield washer bottle for my radiator overflow. who uses that anyway....

Even most small tracks require a 1qt bottle. You could could simply hang a simular type bottle on the side of the radiator. A friend of mine once used a 20 oz plastic coke bottle to race since he deleted his over flow. They didn't say anything about it. It was on an old truck so it didn't matter what it looked like but on a GN-T-type, you may want to find something different.

thanks guys...

I actually went to my local Advance Auto and they sell a little 1.5 quart overflow tank that you can mount right on your radiator support (supposed to be for space limited muscle cars). It'll work perfect. Was only $7.

I'm just about finished with my setup finally after 4 months. I'm hooking up the water lines to the new turbo and doing some other small misc stuff and we will be done. I'll have tons of pics!

How did you route your coolant lines? Could you post a picture of yours? I will be installing alky soon and that sounds like a great idea!!! ;)

I used the advanced auto parts one too...Mounted up nicely behind the battery and came with a length of clear tubing

I bought one from a local hot rod shop.... couldnt find a location that i liked - returned it and got a mini overflow from Julio. tucked it behind the battery/Headlight. HTH
