This might be a dumb question, but is the bracket that attaches the turbo to the passenger head necessary? I'm replacing the stock turbo with a TE44. With the turbo bolted firmly in place, the holes in the bracket do not line up with the holes in the head. Almost like the TE44 is a little taller. I can elongate the holes in the bracket a little to make it fit, but thought I'd ask the question first.

I agree, Re-try your install. A te44 should slip on almost like the stocker, That bracket fits easily on the TTA and the TTAs have an additional bracket that fits just behind the shield, that I'm pretty sure my buddies GN doesn't have. Anyway, it fit right on or it did in my case.

I know I'm a bit late seeing this thread, but I also have a TE-44 and the bracket fit perfectly without modifications. My car didn't have it installed for a long time after I bought it (it was in a box of parts that came with the car and I wasn't even aware I had it) but I ended up finding it and cleaning it up and painting it and I put it in probably 3 months ago now. Do you have stock headers? If so there shouldn't be a problem...just a pain in the a$$ to get to the bolts on the head.

Absolutely yes.

With the age of our stock headers, and the junk stainless steel that the factory used, not running what I like to call the question mark bracket (turbo support / heat shield bracket) will eventually cause your stock headers to develop cracks between the bellows on the stock header. Eventually leading to catastrophic failure of the header all together. I've seen it happen 10 years ago on a friends car with a stock turbo no less.

Hope this helps.
