$12,000 for a 87 Grand National with 36K miles on it. It has NO dents or anything... body is in immaculate condition and recently got a fractory quality paint job. Interior is in mint condition. Car has minor mods such as downpipe, chip, exhaust, and the car has GNX wheels. This car is 100% clean and looks cleaner than my moms 2002 Honda Accord. I have already kinda commited to buying this car, but i still wanna hear opinions!!

Factory quality paint isnt very good on these cars but I think I know what you mean. Sounds like a very good deal if it is really 36k, and not 136k. Run a car fax and that should authenticate the miles somewhat

there is a buick dealership by my house and they have a 87 grand national with 5k miles on it... the car is mint! i went to go look at it yesterday... not a swirl mark on the paint or anything. i believe they were asking around 20 grand for it... ill see if i can get some pics of it this weekend if im free :D

If it has GNX wheels then see if you can get the factory ones too. They are good for mounting slicks:D

That is almost exactly what i paid 3 years ago - 12,300 for a 39k car that is mint inside and good outside.

Good luck

The suggestion of the car fax is a good one and a good place to start to find out as much about the car as possible. Particularly # of owners IMO. Take a look at the speedo cable by the brake fluid container. If there is even a hint of scarring on it from being disconnected then the milage is suspect . Many threads on this have come up similar to this. You can do a search but every question is different and may not answer your question. Most if not every time this type of question is asked I find that the concensus is within $1,500.00 of the high opinion to the low opinion. For example, I just bought my 87GN w/16K one owner miles 2 1/2 hours from here for $12,250.00 Some will say that was a "steal" and others will say that is fair. If there isn't a GN within 100 miles of you for sale either buy that one or be patient and wait to see what else comes along. Whatever you do, use common used car buying sense and if it smells even a little bit fishy, it will smell even worse when the new owner starts smoking the car over and over. Even on the one that I bought I'm finding small things wrong. Not a big deal to some but I'm a little more particular than most. Point being nothing is perfect. Good luck and be patient if you would like to buy a 1986/7 GN. Drew:)

alrighty i'll do the carfax thing and check the speedo cable, but like i said, the engine is clean enough to eat off of and everything but i'll double check anyways. Nobody can be trusted anymore around here. The plus to this car is it comes with the orginal wheels and tires!!! Looks like I might be buying some slicks for the rears if i get this car:D
