I got this ECM from rockauto and I want to be sure it is correct and will work. So far I am having trouble getting a spark at the plug. Put the plug against ground to check and zero spark. Then led me to think of the ECM. Unless I can't check the spark in this manner. Thanks

Sorry forgot to attach photo.

yes, correct part # for ecm. it's the updated # from the factory 122-7148. It's the one I suggested you get.

Ok thanks Anthony. I didn't remember that but I did buy the one you suggested. Just trying to figure out why no spark unless I can't check it the way I thought.

ok thanks. What about checking for spark by holding plug to ground? Is this still valid on this type ignition system? I am going to check crank sensor wiring since I remember reading something about the factory wiring diagram being wrong.

ECM has nothing to do with startup spark. Cam and Crank sensor both have to be functional to initiate a spark. Two fuses relative to the ignition should be checked.

Ok so I found out I have spark just no fuel. After cranking it for a while I checked 2 of the plugs and they were dry. I did a continuity check of the wiring to the injector terminals and all seemed good to those. I have what I think is a good ECM and a stock 87 chip w/o calpack chip. I guess I need to look over the wiring diagrams more.

Just another thought. What if the park / switch was not hooked up or if it's an open circuit, would that cause a no start, no fuel? Thanks

No fuel is CAM sensor cap If it a OE no light on top that can fell if it a Caspers wit red light it can fell too but the light will not flash.
OE caps without a light is almost imposable to find, Lots of people don't have nice thins to say about Caspers But tell you fork over 750 bucks for a CRUZ cam sensor Caspers is all you have to use. I have used one for 15 years and 30K miles before it felled.

cam sensor will not stop fuel pump , prime is irrespective of any sensor
pump run after prime is dependent on RPM

pump can be powered seperate of the ecm to establish fuel pressure above 26psi , you claim to have spark and if still no fuel and you have injector pulse (buy a frickin noid lamp ) then it should pop unless the injectors are locked up
you can spray starting fluid into the tb and if it pops and runs briefly then its a fuel delivery issue , if it wont you have to go back to spark ignition

steve woods no start tree

I made the mastic and thought he has fuel pressure without even asking if he dose.
Paul DO YOU HAVE FUEL PRESSURE ?

Oh yeah, the prime works and then shuts off and when I start cranking the fuel pressure goes back up to 40 psi. I would have thought to see fuel on the plug tips if the injectors were working. I pulled a plug and it was dry.

OK we have established you have fuel pressure. If you' do not have a Noid light to test. Im sticking to my original post cam sense cap.
