It does have the light weight wheels and the aluminum bumper supports, the GN wheels were crazy heavy and i dont think the GNs had the full length aluminum supports.

The WE4 is identicle on the outside when driving down the road, minus badges and wheels. 1547 made. Has the all grey interior

Here is my dads WE4 trying my TT2 wheels out on a saturday.

Oh, by the way, when it was 100% stock i took it to the track on some 215/65/15s about 6 years ago. I did hotwire the stock pump and it dipped into the 13.8s at 100.
Did a chip, cat, and new pump on xylene and 92 octane got it to run 13.40s at 105 or so thru the stock air box on 255 BFG radials
Now it has a 49 turbo, bluetops, stock air box and methanol injection...
He calls it the corvette killer:cool: and he LOVES it.

They were what, $17-18,000 new? I would say he should be asking $24,000. I have no reasoning for that other than that's what I think it is worth at the top echelon. :D

The 84-86 GN had the aluminum supports. Front and rear. 1987 GN had the steels.

I've said it a billion times. Whats 50 pounds or so worth in the 1/4 mile? Thats right. Hundreths of a second. Its all a moot point anyway. A good driver with the heavier car will still kick the a$$ of a bad driver with the lighter car. Heck even a good holeshot would make up the difference anyday too.

To follow the logic above, 86 GN's are rarer than 87's and lighter too. So why don't they sell for more than 87's?

general rule

every 100 lbs is a tenth or so........doesn't apply as you get quicker but a good general rule

Thanks for the quote... It was a 87 question anyway.
Dont forget the weight of the GN wheels, perhaps 100 more lbs over the regular T.
You got facts on which cars have aluminum drums in 1987

He paid $31K for it at Barrett Palm Beach a month ago.

The reason he says it is faster than the GN is because that is what the owner was claiming at the auction.

I was told that al T Types, not just the WE4s had the aluminum bumber supports, is this ture? Also, why didn't the GNs get them?

All T-types ie: 1986 turbo regals have aluminum supports as do the GN's that year. In 1987 all the Limiteds I've seen have aluminum supports as do the WE4's.

The general rule of thumb is that all of the turbo cars got the aluminum supports except the 87 GN. And the 86-87 V-8 307 cars recieved the aluminum supports. I've only seen one Turbo Regal(non-GN) that came with the steel supports. As far as the aluminum drums go only the non-posi cars with alloy wheels came with them. In other words you'll never see a IC GN with aluminum drums. Heres a list of codes that will help identify what parts came on your TR.
VD6-Front Aluminum Support
VD7-Rear Aluminum Support
J50-Powermaster Brake Booster
J41-Cast Iron Drum
J42-Aluminum Drum
N89-Alloy Wheel
N83-Chrome Wheel
