well just wondering what everyone is doing for winter mods. We dont get snow down here in tucson so i dont have any. its perfect ice cold weather here and the hotair cars love it. well i got some new track times with my car till my turbo went out so i didnt get to tune alot like i wanted. i will let you know when i hit the 11\'s. it shouldnt be to long with some more tunning.

I really like your mods and do let us know how you do getting into the elevens. I am high twelves and because of insurance restrictions no reason to go faster. Sad but true my car is a pleasure car with balls. I am going to chrome alot of the engine this winter. I am 100% tuned at 20lbs boost no knock at all. Chime in everyone. Brad

And!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! so what did it run?

well

well the car has been sitting for 4 years. i got about 3 days of tunning in. i made 2 passes with fuel adjustments and it ran 12.6@107 and the o2's where in the 810-820 range. this is with the temp outside around 75. and the boost was at 22psi. on the 3rd pass the turbo let up. i have had the car at 26psi but i wanted to lower it at the track and adjust the timing and what not. i think after more tunning and putting the boost around 26-28 it will hit 11's. o and this is a car that has never had the heads off of it and it has 84,000 on the motor.

hey

im running a Ta-54. i just sent it off to Precision Turbo to get fixed so we will see if they can rebuild it back to a 54 or if its hurt bad and needs to go bigger. here is a pic from the track day. i was almost pulling the drivers side wheel every time but didnt get any pics of it.

I am going to put on an oil cooler. I will start researching what is needed or post a new thread. I do not want to hijack this thread. Great PICs. Brad

2 questions for you boost231 if you don't mind.
1. What vehicle is that upper rad. hose for? I am in the middle of f bod rad conversion and haven't bought the upper yet.
2. Will that downpipe fit with the A/C and heater box installed?
thanks

BRAD PADGETT pm me and i will tell you what i need since i have one on my car.

Turbobuick2- the Upper Rad. hose is a 87 hose im pretty sure. i think i got one for a 87 and it fit. if not i also remember taking my old hose to autozone and matching it.
Also the Downpipe will fit with the a/c. its junk mease dp. i want to get a custom one made but that will be down the road. i think i can really make a nice one since the ac is gone and make a 5\" to 3\" pipe.

Good looking car and great times !!! What kind of tires were you running and what was your sixty foot ?

Also only mods I will be making is forged pistons.

I'm throwing in a BRF trans in place of the old KCF (out of an 87 Gutless) I stupidly reinstalled after the build. I am getting a new wastegate actuator to hopefully make boost again (at least that's what I narrowed it down to). I'm gonna rip the old junk manifolds off and install a set of headers I've had lying around. Basically some stuff I've been meaning to do for a while. (BTW, only parts stock on this BRF are the case and pan! I should know, I helped build it.)

Also thanks for sticking it out with your Hot Air car and working toward your goal of 11's in stock form. Seems like fewer and fewer people left in the Hot Air forum working with there combos before converting over. As stated may times over here is proof again that low 12's is more than obtainable in stock form with proper tuning.

i was running MT ET Streets 26X10.5X15's that are 5 years old. i was pulling 1.6 sixty foots off the foot brake.

The Car looks GREAT!!!! The time is great also. Keep up the good work. I am sure you will get it in the 11's... Maybe the 10's. At some point you will probably intercool it. I have been following you and COOL84/COOL84 2 for a while. I planned to get my car to ran as fast as possible HOT. Then I was going to cool it. I want to be able to take the intercooler off to see exact HOW much of a difference. Keep us informed....

hey

i will never and i mean never put a intercooler on my car. i want to get the car as fast as it will go before i do heads. i know with heads right now the car will go 11's. i know that for sure. im going to try 25 psi once my turbo gets back tune it then go to 28 and try that. 11's will come soon. Also it was fun smoking some 87's and a true GNX up at the WCN. the first person that came up to my car and looked at it was like i have never seen one of these go faster then 13's i was like your going to see it tonight pal. off the trailer it ran 12.9

I have a couple 4.1's and 86 intakes. I have followed many on the board and decided to test the limit of my car. At first I was HOT Air till I die.... I had a game plan of alky and NOS (75-100hp max). Then I started looking at Drew Carlton and his V3 Hot Air. Of course everyone followed Leeo and BigDaddy. I think Leeo got his car in the 10.50s. I am having the upper plenums moded so I can mount my turbo above the plenum. In this configuration, I can go HOT and COOL easily. I have followed BRUCE and his 87 going COOL and HOT and I have my own suspicions about whether the intercooler can be replaced by alky and or NOS. When I first got my car, I race many 86's and I could kill them of the line, but at the top of second the intercooler would be a deciding factor. I took the NOS 50hp shot off of my SVO Mustang. I installed on the T-Type and I sprayed a 50hp shot in second gear and I beat the 86 by two cars. So what did I learn? Alky and NOS could be used... BUT DO NOT GET GREEDY:eek: I would only use NOS as a intercooler with no more than 100hp. I think Terry Penner ran in the 11's with KenneBell headers, cam and very little else. I love these HOT cars. Most people think you have a 13-14 sec car until you unload a 12 or better. Ms Jamie (turbo6x2) has FOOLED alot of people with her car. I am sure you will also... Keep up the GOOD work!!!

Here are my Winter plans. I actually could get some NOS nozzles installed in the 86 intake. NOS has a progressive controller that could work like RAZOR's progressive Alky. If I could get Eric Marshall to cut me a NOS chip. This could get very interesting. I have seen the Supra's and Honda's spray 75-100hp shots in the 8 second range. I would use NOS as a cooling agent only. I may only spray the intercooler or spray the alky tube. I will sort it out soon.....

Chuck

Note: These are photos from JS Manufactoring. He no longer produces the kit, but he will moded the upper plenum.
