WOW! is all i can say. i was looking at his GN at gnttype.org, dam thats a model of simplicity. his combo dispells a lot of crap that floats around this and other message boards. one for instance is his use of stock fuel lines. its true they flow great, no need for garden hose braided fuel lines. another is his heads, nothing fancy, just mild bowl work on stock gn1s. stock style wastegate? thats right no use of big $$$$ external wastegates. no big $$$$ weldon fuel pumps, just a duel xp setup that shows they work. Congrats Jason, awsome tuning and great times!

His Car is Awsome.Excellent Craftsmanship.
BUt He works (or owns ) A shop where he can do A boatload of R&D.
Cause He's using the stock lines & wastegate makes it great??
How many HG's popped b4 they got it right?
This is not a Flame war on whats right or wrong but what works.
Alot & I mean alot of people had bad luck with the stock lines, So instead of changing a HG every weekend get a pump & Lines.There are people that have had good luck with the Stock lines so it really does not dispell any rumors just that he's got his sh!t Flying.

There's a difference between the ability to run "stock" pieces in very quick/fast cars, and whether it's prudent to do so.

The fuel lines are a good case in point. It may be possible for an individual or two to run the stock fuel lines into the 9s, but that shouldn't be held up as a model for what to do. One small kink in the next guy's supply line might make that a very bad choice for him.

it was my point to say that if all is in order that it is possible to run extremely quick on the parts i mentioned. Jason is proof of that. is he the norm? heck no, but he shows it can be done. Whats having his own shop have do do with it? doesnt sound like any magic in his combo to me. sounds more like a lot of track time and someone who knows their way around a felpro system.

Having His own shop has nothing to do with it Making gridles & PP's Lot's of R&D. You don't think that plays a factore??. Red's around the same #'s on a Chip.
Yes he's Flying, Yes he's doing it with not the Exotic stuff, But I think having a shop has alot to do with it.

This will dispell some more rumors. I did NOT have a shop until a few months AFTER the 02 Nats. 100% of the buick research and developement was done on my own time after work. My old place of employment (Loveridge Machine) actually viewed my Buick products and research as waste of time.


I really appreciate the kind words. There is no magic in my combo. I just have alot of hard work into it. For instance I put 5 different configurations of converters in my car before the nats just to get it just right for my combo. I did not have a groupies that changed them for me, myself and a good friend of mine Ryan Hall did every one. When choosing parts it would be a very good to look at my combination of parts (that i am very specific about) closely. That way you guys won't have to go though all I did.



When installing parts, look at the details of each part installed. Some might need a little grind here or there to make them right.
Really it is the details that make small differences that add up.

RJ, what boost were you running for the 9 second pass at over 130 mph? Or do you get so excited and forget to look at the boost gauge like I do.

Im not there yet...I realize there is a big difference between 127 and 133 and I've not nowhere near got the car working to handle the power but it is alot closer now and im looking for my 130+ this coming sunday at M.I.R

Jason is my roll model right now but dont tell him that or his head might swell up

my goal is to break in the 9.99's at 130+ with stock valved (self ported) factory heads but like Jason says its lots of time and dedication to it and paying lots of attention to every detail.

Jason and Geno both are my driving force to break in the 9's which im not looking at making this year but if i can lay down the mph then I know I can focus on the suspention and get the car to do it...with what i've done to it right now I suspect low 10's for et but thats counting chickens before they hatch but the car feels really strong and i've got my fingers crossed

I have had problems with the stock lines on a mild build car.

If you don't have a garage and drive in winter you will find out just how great they are.

Racing is another story altogether. I'd prolly start with a braided larger inlet line and use the stocker for the return.

Plenty of braided 3/8" line on my car.

As I recall, Jason stated he was running a little over 25 psi on that pass. Call it 26 or 27.

im not starting a flame war either but red armstrong has not run even close to 10.0 on JUST a chip his car is a stage car not a stock 109 block. he did run a stock block at one time but it was modified and still did not run into the 9's. but believe what you want call red and talk to him he can give you the details

ps mph is easy my street car is in the 125-130 mph range. has it run low 10's or high nine's ....................not yet .

My point tho was It was done with a chip not fast.
