This is not for me, but something for my wife to do. She currently stays home with the two kids and I work full time. I saw an ad for envelope stuffing  Wondering how legit this is? We want something for her to do that is relatively easy to do around two kids. Then maybe get some help from me on my days off. Was considering day care, but I got off 3 or 4 days a week cause of my schedule so that would suck. Any ideas? Nick

ALL of the "envelope stuffing" jobs are scams... there are a few legit work from home jobs out there but they are hard to get started in. You have to weed through all the BS to get something that will actually make some money.

If it sounds too good to be true... it is.

There is no way to get rich quick.

Daycare is... well, daycare is not for everyone... it is easy to talk yourself into it, but the reality is, you will more than likely change your mind soon after getting a full load.

There ARE a few jobs that she might be able to get into doing to make a little extra money on the side - but they all take a little investment to get going.

medical billing and eBay come to mind... check into those or email me if you would like some more info.

I had a friend doing medical billing. Him and his wife were making about $50k a year doing it, but it was more of a full time thing from home. Not something you could do a few hours a day. If she has some sort of skill set, and is computer savy there are a few things she can do from home. You just have to keep scouring the monster and careerbuilder sites and throughly check things out. Stay away from the ones that want you to invest in.

****I agree with others about the envelope stuffing - it's usually a scam.. Same with "Put your computer to work! 2-25k per month!!!", etc...

Anyway, if your wife has good reading and grammar skills, she can do at home editing for book manuscripts, magazines, etc.. Around here, there is a book publishing company called Bantam Books that publishes lots of novels, etc.. that is always asking for proofreaders, etc.. You have deadlines to meet, but it can be done from home, and I know a couple of people with kids who do it on the side while raising their kids. Maybe you have something in your area like that. It pays ok.

Also, medical billing is another option as others have mentioned. Pays ok, but it can get out of hand if you don't keep up with it, and can easily end up a full time job.

Good luck

My wife does medical billing from home. It is a full-time job; she's been doing it for 4 years now with 10 years in-office experience prior. She has to take classes regionally to stay certified. Her office is physically in Ft Lauderdale but she works via FedEx and fax. I doubt it would be a good job to take on with kids running around in the background. It's lonely too; little interaction with the outside world until she fills my ear once I get home. :( :D

How would a person get started with the medical billing or the proof reading?Any info from fellow Buick members will be appreciated. Thanks!
