I Just Got My First Car. Its A 1986 Buick T-type Turbo. Its Pretty Much Stock. It Was Just Freshened. Its Non Intercooled. I Want To Run Mid 11s And Still Be A Daily Driver. What Do I Need To Buy For The Car? What Does It Need To Run Mid 11s? Id Appreciate Any Advice I Could Get. Thanks

All 86-87 cars were intercooled. Regardless of badging. Look at the sticker in your trunk - it NEEDS to say LC2 if its an 86/87.

I think you are going to need a lot of cash to get a hot-air into the mid 11's. It's been done, but you need to be in love with a hot air.

I do not think so. BUT any of our vendors sell front-mounts that can be used. You just need to get creative with the plumbing and get a chip from Turbo Tweak (Eric Marshall).
Better exhaust, injectors, better breathing, I think there may be 1 or 2 turbo's to chose from for that motor, alky from alky control. Get it tuned in (get a scan tool - like powerlogger), a 200R4 from Brian Hofer, decent stall converter, good rubber and I think you can get close.

Thanks. How Do I Turn The Boost Up On A Stock Turbo Like The One On My Car. And I Also See That Its Mounted Right Above The Intake So I Dont Know How I Would Use An Intercooler.

The turbo can be "clocked" to allow access to the nozzle. The piping would have to be fabricated to make it from there to the front of the car then back to the intake.

The issue is that turning up the boost with a turbo that is already near it's maximum efficiency would be just a hot, hot, hot air pump. You can get an adjustable wastegate. The rod on the end is threaded to allow for shorter or longer travel of the wastegate.

Another option is to get the intake, headers, turbo, intercooler, ecm, and other assorted goodies from an 86-87 car. Same block, do a search for 85-87 conversion. Something will pop up. This has also been done many times.

An alcohol kit is affordable and will reduce the temperature of the intake charge while raising the potency of your pump gas. - must do for a turbo car.

PM Boost231. I think he is going fast with a hot air. He would be a much better resource than me. My first TR was an 84' WH1 - and that's about the level of hot air exposure that I have.

Try posting this in the Hot Air section. There's a lot of people over there that can help.
