Got my new head gasket back on after getting the head resurfaced and put it all back together and now it has some knock that I cant get rid of.It ranges from 0.5 to 3.5 on a run from 1st through 3rd gear. All of the knock occurs at the end of 2nd and 1st half of 3rd.I thought maybe bad gas so I put in 10 gallons of 110 in and running alky alky so octane isnt an issue. It has the same knock at 19lbs of boost as it does at 24.I have added and subtracted fuel to 10.4 on the wideband and 11.0 and still the same results....cant get rid of the KR.Never had this issue prior to blowing the gasket.Plugs look fine.

I assume Maybe its a rod bearing or something of that nature,There was alot of gunk on the pick-up tube when I pulled the pan to clean it up...Maybe I hurt something more than the head gasket?

Turn up the alky a little and see if it goes away.

Just took it out again, turned the alky knob from 6 to 8(maxxed out),and still had up to 4.5 deg knock at one point for a sec.but there was 0 kr at the top of 3rd just like before.blm's were 125.02's were 10.5-11.2,and 760-805 nb.

That $hit happened to me three years ago...Ran the car down the track and got 8.9 knock.....ended up my alky was not spraying at 21PSI on pump gas...

Make sure your knock sensor is installed to the correct specs. Too tight and it is over sensitive, too loose it won't pick up much. Search on here, I dont recall what it is off the top of my head 14 or 17 ft lbs???

Last year after getting new cam, valve springs, lifters, etc...installed, my car was having tons of false knock. It eventually went away after driving a few hundred miles and 2 oil changes.

Yeah,this sucks.ive tried every mph/fuel pressure/boost pressure/race fuel/alky knob....etc,no matter what it knocks.
Only thing changed from before was the head gasket, oil, and put a new denso 02 sensor in.

I also noticed the valve cover breather was spitting out some oil,the factory breather was angled towards the heater core area and there was oil on that wall after a few passes down the highway.
Maybe it hurt the rings or something...I blew the sh*t outta my gasket.

there isnt any way the machine shop couldve taken to much off the head when they resurfaced it and raised the compression up to much causing knock is there?

May have cranked a piston. Did you replace both gaskets?

Yep.while the head was getting resurfaced I changed the other side for good measure.none of the pistons had any cracks in them as far as eye could see.

Our cars are getting old-I could hear knock, poked around and found a cracked spark plug wire. Yesterday I replaced the hoses (with the "Y" connector) attached to the turbo due to dry rot and cracking. Check the easy stuff first.
