l/up or non l/up

I've recently upgraded and a new TC is next on the list. I know this may seem dumb to some of you but what is the difference between lock up and non lock up. The car is a weekend driver with occasional 1-2 hour trips to the track and elsewhere{resident of BFE}

I would stay Lock up

But that is me. Very few of our cars need a non lock converter. In fact 98% do need a lock up.
