There is a thread on here debating who really has the final GN. There were some good points made for both gn's as to which is truly the last one.

This guy's GN was the last one down the line, the other one belonged to a GM employee that had a later VIN #. I would think this one is the car that counts as the last one.

The last one rolled off the line in Dec. 1987, mine was built in Nov. 1987 Any idea how many they could build in a month?

well, since they built about 20,000 gn's i'd they could easily build 1500 in one month.

in musclecar review in 1987 or 88 they followed this car down the line taking pics and writing the story. i still have the magazine

Sticker on the driver's door will tell you the month/year it was made but not the actual day. Still don't know how you find that out. Never know for sure when my GN's birthday is.:)

are there any GN's that were titled as 88 model year cars? they do that in some states- which is why there are some 66 Camaros and 70 Camaros that are actually late 69's that didn't get titled until 70..

What a read, Mark! I really enjoyed seeing this....thanks so much for sharing.........really cool! Man, wish I had that one.

Bruce! How did you make out in the hurricane? See you are back. Naaah, I don't think I would want that car, can't be driven because of it's historical value. Of course if I had it in addition to mine that would be another story.;)

Hey, Mark...we made out just fine.....we dodged a big bullet, we were so darn lucky, most of the storm missed us as it traveled further north and away from the original projected path. Can't tell you how much we were relieved. I sure thank you for your concern......nice guy that you are, Mark.

I feel the same way about the GN.....it would only be a stored investment and I'd be worried sick if anything got near it if I drove it or stored it in the garage.....but still, a real nice read..........it's great we still have all original GNs around for future references. I hope this guy takes very good care of it.....was wondering for years what happened to the last GN and thanks to you, now I know.

Did you make it out alright in the storm? I heard Connecticut was hit pretty good in places. Hope you did OK.

Made out just fine with the hurricane, lights flickered a few times but that was it. Some serious winds in my town but cleared most of my trees over the years that could reach the house. Neighbors not so lucky. Tree landed on their house.

About 10 miles south of me is the shoreline and they got hammered pretty much the whole length of CT. Many people just got things rebuilt from the bad storms we had here last year.

This being my first post having just joined also. While cruising the forums I found this. I know the Colvins and I have stood next to the car many times. I`ve seen the car at a few early shows years ago when he would bring it out. I`ve stood with James in his home where the GN had its own room at the time. It`s been several years since I`ve laid my eyes on it but I still see James every now and then and I know its well taken care of. He did express one regret about the trip to the GM plant. The GN was one of the last cars down the line as the plant was closing. But the next car in line was a Monte Carlo SS Areo Coupe which was unclaimed at the time and James stated that they were offered it for the deaalership but turned it down. Hind sight is a wonderfull thing !! Peace

The Colvins are great people. I have been up there a few times over the last couple of years. The GN still resides in its "bedroom" and still looks as good today as it did when it rolled off the line.

The car in front of the GN was a Monte. But it was a regular, non SS car. Bob did mention he wished he had gotten it, too. Although I don't know how much value it would have today since another plant was still pushing out Montes as time went by.
